- Title: Cotton Wood Tree
- Artist: 80s_Katies777

Description:
This was drawn for my art class that I am In. It is a cotton wood tree in Nebraska that I just love. My mother apparently went out of town with her painting supplies one day and painted this tree herself. I think I've seen the painting actually, its really pretty. I drew this from a picture my aunt took though.
This was done with pencil and oil pastels. (Please excuse the bad quality, it was too large to scan, and therefore I had to use my camera. Camera does not seem to like my drawings haha) - Date: 06/08/2011

Well, try to mesh in the three things I mentioned in your next piece. Try working with shades and highlights and work on form. If you feel you don't have control over oil pastels, then use color pencils (but it'll take longer to shade). If you want me to be more specific in my critique, you can comment to me on my profile. - Report As Spam

- Using oil pastels with color pencils too frequently doesn't look great. If you have stuck with oil pastels, then you could have gotten away with using a little bit of color pencils. It would also look nice if you 1. colored in the white, 2. used more than one color for your objects, and 3. consider using shading for your objects. If the drawing is big enough to not fit in the scanner then there is probably room for you to do all three I mentioned.
