The truth of the matter was that i wasn't looking at you. I know you wanted me too. To make me smile with that face that could make the stars stop to catch their breath with laughter. You pulled me in and we danced and spun until we fell to the ground laughing.
We just lay there in the field staring up at the clouds and the slowly fading sunlight. When it got dark we ran as fast as we could towards home. tripping every now and again on the weeds. As soon as we reached the old tree i shimmied up it and you followed close behind. The platform had grown old and wouldn't last much longer. But we lay on it anyway. Staring at the stars. We tried to count them but got lost after 37. You turned and looked at me. I smiled and blushed slightly. Both of us trying to hide our complete and utter joy. You said softly " One day we'll go to the stars, just you and me. I'll pick you a thousand stars, but none of them will compare to your eyes, and the way they shine just perfectly." You kissed me then, softly but sweetly. It was the perfect end to the perfect night. The perfect way to say " I love you." <3
