I stopped, panting by the alleyway. A huge grin spread across my face, and merciless laughter poured through my clenched teeth. My fist grabbed ahold of a protruding piece of brick. The boy that was following me had bright yellow contacts and thin greasy hair.
I wasn't much better off. My two front teeth crisscrossed like nobodies business, and my hair refused to just stay flat on my head. It stuck out in a straight whisp here, and a curl there. My nose seemed to long, and my mouth was always pursed.
"Suki! Wait up! You know I suck at running!" He shouted as his knees buckled. I laughed out loud as the boy came to a complete stop. "No, Damian. I didn't notice after 5 years of hanging out with a freak like you." I taunted him. He shot me a glare. I grinned.
"Must go now." A yelled at him. Damian had just picked himself up off the ground and was dusting off his too loose jeans. I turned around and jogged around the corner of 5th and Main street and kept on running. Then, as I was about to turn into my driveway, Damian came hurling out from behind me, both yellow eyes stretched in a panic.
He yelled kind of loudly, and my next door neighbors terrier started yowling. I grimaced, then turned to confront Damian. "Is this revenge for me loosing your I-pod? Because I swear it was an accident." I said. Damian shook his head so hard a greasy strand of hair flew into his face.
"Come. With. Me." He managed to pant out, and grabbed my wrist. Since he was horrible at all things sports, I lead and let him give directions. He'd probably seen something that spooked him.
That's why I liked Damian for a friend instead of a girl. It was just too fun to play pranks on him. After jogging and walking about a mile, Damian finally slowed down. After he'd caught his breath, he looked up.
"I never knew you lost my I-pod."
"DAMIAN!" I kicked him in his shin and made his fall backwards. He wheezed and coughed.
"You brought me all the way out here and the first thing you say to me is, I didn't know you lost my I-pod!"
Damian rolled over on his backside. "No, I didn't. I followed this really creepy guy because he was carrying a knife."
I raised my foot to give him another good kick. "Damian, you don't go following people with knifes!" Damian looked up at me, and something in his face made me stop. "Suke, I watched him kill somebody."
I was quiet as Damian got himself up off the ground. "You're lying Damian." Damian kicked the ground, scuffing his sneakers in the dust. "No, I'm not. And the worst part is, I think he saw me." That part made me want to hit him again.
"C'mon. Let's go to my house. Then tell me everything you saw." I looked over at him sweating. "And this time we run." As Damian opened his mouth to complain, and grabbed his hand and started jerking him until he started running.
