I really do not understand. But, I know not to ask. I sat there and waited for my dad to come back. I heard the locks on the front door and then an explosion. Not a bomb, explosion. But, somebody or something just knocked down the front door, explosion.
"Get out of my house!" I heard my dad yell before the first shot. Then the floor beneath me started to fall to the first floor. I saw a light. I looked at it and then my dad jumped whatever it was and looked up to me.
"Emy! Run! Get out of the way---" the thing had him in the air. I ran out of the closet and tried to open the door. Dad forgot he locked me int he room. I went to the window and tried to lift it. The window sill was rotted and rusted on the sides. I looked around the room.
"I need to get out" I kept repeating to myself. I saw my uncle's green tool box under the bed when the green peeled paint shone in the moonlight. Yes, I hope there is still something in there. Dear, God.
"Emy!"
"Dad!"
I picked up the box and dropped it so the lock would bust. There was a mini axe. I grabbed it and started chopping up the bedroom door. When I got through I slipped through the hole. There was a piece of wood stuck in my side that was killing me, but all I had was my dad. I needed to help him.I turned back to the room and slipped my hand through to grab the axe. I got my forearm caught and there was a stream of blood from my elbow to my wrist and dripping down from the center of my palm. I wanted to cry but my want for my father stifled it.
"Emy!" I heard him shriek. I looked down the stairs. The thing was actually a man. He looked bulgy and obviously dangerous.
"I've found the girl. Top of the stair frame." Now the roof was peeling off. I didn't pay attention to the roof. I ran down the stairs at full force and swung the axe at the man. He dodged the first 4 swings, but, I clipped him 2 times on the 5th and 6th swing. I went one more time at the rage of my father against the wall slouched over trying to get up using the wallas his support. I went for the family jewels and the guy tried to dodge. But, I ended up cutting his inner thigh. His blood spattered onto me. I think I had a good hit cause I think that was a vein or artery. My dad had finally made his way up. I dropped the axe and ran to my father. He grabbed onto my shoulder and he led me to the basement. He had never let me down there. There was a lock on the door. He stuck his right and in his mouth and pulled out a tooth. But, his tooth was actually a key. He unlocked the lock. Then, it was just a dark stairway until the 5th step. Then, it was like a sci-fi movie silver scene but, less showy.
"Emy?" he asked. I looked up to his honey brown eyes." Stand close and don't be startled. Okay, honey."
"Yes papa." was all I could say. Then he winced trying to lift up his hand. Then, he pressed in buttons. My birthday. 1-0-1-9-9-9
All I had time to do after the last nine was to breath. I was internally screaming. My dad hung onto me. Well, really, that was me. He was kinda enjoying the look on my face.
