The door slams behind me. I sigh and walk to the kitchen. “what was that about?” my mom Lydia asks. I sigh again. ”the usual… Zack just doesn’t like me.“ my dad puts down his coffee “are you going to start with that again? He takes another sip, he doesn‘t hate you he’s just… shy” I take a cup and pour orange juice into the glass. “shy! Of his own brother?” Charles nodes “yes, Daniel stop arguing with me there is no way your brother hates you” I ignored what was said I went on. Zack sits at the table “ nope, Daniels right dad, I really do hate him” Zack said it playfully so it sounded like he was joking. His words made me angry and upset I slammed the cup on the counter and the orange juice came flying out of the cup. “I’m leaving” I grabbed my bag and before I left I heard my mom wishing me a good day. I was so angry a frustrated that I left and never said good bye. I regret it so much now.
Nothing about that day seemed unusual. I was late to first period even though I got to school early, when the final bell rang me and some friends went to grab a bite to eat before going to baseball practice, after baseball practice I was going to walk back home. Then on my way I herd sirens fearing the worst I ran. There I met up with my aunt she was so distraught she didn’t tell me anything until she started driving to the hospital. “your parents… got home at the wrong time, you see a couple of men where in the middle of a robbery when they arrived… Daniel your parents a seriously injured they have a slim chance of surviving.” It all came so fast, thoughts came threw my head an image of what happened, the memory of the morning, all at once everything rushing threw my head. ”Daniel? Sweetie do you want me to stop the car?” quickly I shook my head. I banged my fists on the dashboard “damn!…I began to sob silently. My aunt rubbed my back trying to comfort me. Then I lifted my head “where is Zack! Zachary! Where is he, aunty..!” tears steaming down my face and maybe just maybe some snot. Aunty Evet smiled “he’s fine he injured his left arm but he’s okay, do you want to see him first?” I nodded my head “yeah I do I don’t know how I could be able to see my parents as they might be now.” Aunty Evet kept driving.
