Two days later, the telephone rang. I rushed to pick it up. It was the policeman. My rising hope was shattered when he said that they had found a dead body in the river that passes by the park and that either my mother or I would have to come to identify it. I knew that Mom would not be able to bear all this and besides I was hundred percent sure that it could not be Nick that they had found. I did not want Mom to suffer even more stress for nothing.

I reached the hospital where they had kept the dead body and found the man who was in charge of my brother's case. He led me to a dark room where there was only a metal table on which I knew there was the dead body of a small boy. The body was covered with a white sheet. I went over to the table, my feet trembling a little, and looked at the boy's face...

There he was, as if sleeping on the cold metal table, my little angel. It was as if he could wake up at any moment. I could not believe it... my little brother, my angel... dead! I could not believe that I would never hear his giggles again, never hear his voice, never hear him call me... The realisation that I would never feel his hug again struck me. It was as if someone had thrown a bucket of icy cold water on me. What would I say to Mom?

I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. Life is not the same anymore with the sudden disappearance of my little angel. The only consolation I have is the thought that my little brother had gone to take his place among the angels found in the sky.....

    End.
