Ch.1
Eagle,Hawk,Pigeon,Wren and Falcon. She looked over them fondly.”Are they not lovely?” She asked him, looking into his eyes.”They are.” He replied with the same loving look reflected in his smile. She looked over her children, all of them more lovely then the last.
There was Eagle, the oldest and physically strongest of the bunch. Hawk, the kind and gentle one. Pigeon the quiet child. Wren was different, constantly shifting and changing. And then there was Falcon. She was the next heir to the Spira Quno Guardra, and her mom's pride and joy.
~10 years later~
Eagle flew above his other siblings, marveling at the simple joy of being born first, therefore being the first to fly. “Come down and stop showing off!” He heard someone(probably Wren) yell.
“Why don't you learn to fly?” He teased, coming down for a only a second. He knew Falcon(or Falx as she liked to be called) would try her hardest to learn before the others. “Come on Pige you gonna let Falx fly before you.” He joked.
“Don't care.” He heard Pige say.
“What about you Hawk?” He asked. Hawk managed to turn to his spiritual form, but couldn't get more then a couple feet off the ground. Eagle could hear Wren laughing at him. “Why don't you say something Falx.” He said, coming down and turning human.
“Congrats.” She said as she started to walk away.
“Where are you going?” Pige asked.
“Mom wants me.” She replied.
“Lucky bugger.” Hawk muttered. They all had telepathic and telekinetic skills. However,Falx far surpassed them. Eagle believed it had to do something with the fact that she was the next heir. The others thought it was because of her”rare birth.” Falx had been born with the rare talent of possessing elements, something that happened once every 5 generations or so. She had gotten the control of the moon so to speak, and used the power to her advantage.”Eagle.” Eagle snapped back to the present to see Falx standing beside him. He took back to the air, doing a few circles around. “You know that if you stay like that to long you'll forget how to change back.” Hawk warned.
“Who cares.” Eagle replied. “Nothing can beat this feeling.”
“ Fine, don't blame us when you can't turn back.” Wren said.
***** Falx left her family some time later, and was now wandering the village. She walked past the baker and blacksmith, giving them both nod and a silent hello. Falx was royal blood, and today she told be turning 10. She also was old enough now to understand that this meant that all her other siblings would be getting older as well. For some strange reason, all of Falx's siblings where born on the same day,but they where all born within a year of their older sibling.'14,13,12,11,10.' Falx thought to herself as she stopped before the herbalist's place. She paused, deciding if she should go in or not. She shook her head and walked in,letting the sent of herbs and mystery wash over her.
“Is that you Falcon?” She heard a voice like bells ask.
“Yes it is I elder.” Falcon replied.
“How many times do I have to tell you, call me Sparrow.”She scolded . “Anyways,I was just going out to collect some bloodroot,I don't suppose you would like to take over and gather it for me?” She asked.
“I would love to” Falx replied, taking a pouch off the hook near the door and running out into the woods.
Falx helped the villagers along with Hawk. Sometimes Wren and Pigeon even pitched in and helped. Eagle thought it was a waste of time, and even told mom once. Mom had glared at him and told him that. 'though the power of the people is where we get our greatest strength.”Falx laughed as the ran down the slope and into the forest ferns. She loved nothing more the the smells and sounds of the forest. She heard a noise and quickly turned around, only to see her childhood friend ,Banpi, standing there. “You want anything?” She inquired, putting down her herb pouch and hugging him.
“I was just checking up on you.” He replied, pretending to be hurt by her question. “You know how your parents get.”
“ You mean I know how you get.” She joked,as she tied the herd pouch around her waist and poking him in ribs playfully.
“Whatever.” He muttered, going and poking her in the side. Falx laughed. I still believe you are way to overprotective.”She said, darting into the thick undergrowth.
“Come back here!” Banpi yelled.
“Come and get me.” She teased, going deeper into the forest. She could hear Banpi pursuing her,and picked up her pace. She rushed past the part of the village that he lived in and then ran to the temple. She knew that Banpi was the only anubian who would actually go into the temple, and she loved playing in the temple with him. It gave her a sense of importance every time she was here. It was almost like she belonged there. Banpi always felt uncomfortable though,so he never stayed long. She set the herb pouch down and went up to the stand that held the Spira Quno Guardra. It was the lifeblood of the Spirit Birds, and belonged to the royal family. The bloodline was passed down through the strongest and most capable heir. Falx loved nothing more then to stare at the necklace and envision the day she would wear it. It would be on her 16th birthday and would be worn until she found a lover. Then it would return here until her child took possession of it. There was only a few other ways a royal blood would posses the Spira Quno Guardra. Those reasons where in war,or when the wearer went off world on important business
She went up and touched the smooth gold bird. Her hand trailed over it,going over to the silver one. Her hand finally rested on the gem. That gem held the spirits of all those who had past, and was the power source of the people. Her mom had told her stories of the necklace's power and how it could heal,go back in time and even bring people back from the dead.
“Flax?” a voice snapped her out of her thoughts again. She turned towards the speaker. Then realized in shock that it was her father.
”What are you doing here?” He asked her.
“I'm allowed here, mom said I could.” Falx replied quickly. Her father nodded.
”Then I guess you already know the story of our creation?”
“No ,mom has not gotten around to telling me that.” Falx admitted.
Her father shrugged his shoulders, ruffling his wings, and looked around.”Follow me.” He commanded, going up the temple stairs. Flax followed him, wondering what he meant to tell her.
Her father led her up to the top of the temple, where you could see the entire village spread out below. You could even see the river that was the borderline of their territory and on the other side you could see the smoke rising from the anubian village. Her father's voice broke her out of her thoughts.”Now Listen carefully Falx, for I am not going to repeat myself.” He said, slowly,as if he where measuring each word. Suddenly he began, and Falx was swept away to a distant time.
“It was said in the beginning only the most ancient and powerful of creatures could live on this planet.” Her father began. “There was the dragons:lords of the skies, the Lycan:lords of the night, the unicorns:ladies of the land, the elves:lords of the forest, and the serpents:lords of the water. The world was held together be a spiritual force that separated the living and the dead.
However, one day the spiritual energy leaked out and threatened to destroy all the ancient creatures had tried so hard to create. So the dragon and elf fused their magic and poured it into the bird, thus creating a new race,a race with dragon flight, bird shape, and human wisdom.
They called this creating Siroa(which meant bird that gathers spirit)and gave her a necklace, telling her to gather the souls of the dead with it. She followed the advice of the wise ones, and managed to contain the spiritual power of this ancient world. The gods where pleased, and so created a creature from the spirit of a wolf and a bat.
They called this creature Anubian. As they planned, the creatures fell in love, and so created two races. The wise, flying spirit birds and the strong ,hardworking Anubians.” Her father looked up at her.
“They also choose a profit to watch over the races.” He concluded. “And a Summoner to channel and protect us. This is why we allow those to breeds of humans to wander in our village.”He explanned. "Now run off and get some sleep. You start trainning with your mother at mid day."
