• Prologue

Once upon a time, there was a land where reflections in the mirror were more than just skin deep. The person talking to the shop keeper, despite her beautiful face and innocent look, could secretly be the person who was causing the shop keeper to lose most of his inventory.

Finding out this spell was useful, the king sought out the man who cast it. He found a noble by the name of Thomas. Thomas was young, about twelve. In exchange for casting his spell on the entire land, the king offered the hand of his younger sister, a beautiful young woman by the name of Colette. The two were married ten years later, after Thomas had cast his spell on the land.

The King himself was eventually married, to a Princess of a far away nation, and they gave birth to a son. Hoping to have the spell within his family, the king offered to marry his son to Thomas' first daughter, should he have one.

Thomas agreed, not wanting to anger the man who had given him so much. The Prince grew, taking on the name Thomas, after the High Priest his aunt had married. Despite his angelic appearance, blonde hair, brown eyes, and the look of innocence , Thomas' reflection showed a man with a black heart clutched in his hand. The king paid this no heed, and demanded the Priest renew his spell so that his son's true reflection could be seen.

The High Priest said he could not, as the spell could only be cast once every twenty years, or when a child was born to the priest. The King called the High Priest useless, but could not touch the man who had married his sister.

Prince Thomas grew, and the reflection began to change, showing a twisted man with no heart in his chest, only a hole showing the area around where it was supposed to be.

The Reflection appeared, and the King realized it looked familiar. But, before he could say anything, he suddenly dropped dead on the ground. With no other heir, Prince Thomas took the throne, and had the High Priest executed for casting a killing charm, and banned magic from the land.

With the mirrors only showing what existed on the surface of people, the land became sorely reliable on appearance, and chaos erupted.

The Prince, fearing he would be deceived by magic users, went throughout the land, mowing down those loyal to the High Priest, and stealing the magic of those who opposed him.

And that is where our story begins.
