It was a dull day, once again... The autumn breeze starts to bore me, unlike how it did before. The trees were boringly red, orange, and brown. It was... Well, boring. And winter seems to be a long time from now.
Grandmother was growing old and fragile. She could no longer walk, but sit on her bed. Many doctors came to do a clinic. They said that her bones are growing weak, and that she is suffering from an illness. Her illness kept her in bed, twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. All she could do is make some clothing for me.
Due to her being ill, it turned out to be my job to venture out of my home - my safe haven - to wander into the city, to buy some needed materials. But to do that, I have to go through 50 acres of forest. The area is larger than it was described. I was used to this, because my family and I have been isolated in the woods for badically our entire lives. We were used to bears creeping near, annoying birds chirping away, and deer eating at our garden.
There has been a legend, or rumor, spreading across the city. A wolf, with the strength of ten men and the size of two bulls, has been taking some of the citizens and eating them. It only happens when people wander into the forest, the one that Grandmother and I reside in. Once they enter, they never come back... I have heard many versions of that tale. There was one about a dragon who burnt down cities and ate families and cattle, there was one about a giant roaming across lands and kidnaps women and children, and there was one about a goose who was able to lay golden eggs but eats people in order to do it. But this wolf legend seems to stick around with the cityfolk. Regardless, I just take it as a silly old children's story.
"My dear grandaughter," My Grandmother said, weakly, "I feel faint... Could you go fetch a doctor?"
I was worried. I checked her tempurature. She was burning, like a pot on a stove. "Yes, Grandmother!" I replied, "I'll get a doctor!" I ran out of the house and ran towards the city. I rand through dozens of bushes and branches. I nearly cut myself with thorns and leaves. I arrived at the city and ran to the nearest clinic. I stopped to take a breath, and was unable to speak. I walked towards a desk, with no one on either chair.
"H... Hello..!!" I yelled, out of breath. Silence filled the room. I waited for someone to come.
Finally, a doctor walked in and noticed me. "Ah, hello." He said, in a firm yet gentle voice, "You're here about your Grandmother, yes?" He grabbed his bag and took out some paper and walked back to where he came from. I sat in a chair, confused, and waited. Then, again, he came back with a bottle, and handed it to me.
"What's this?" I asked.
"It's medicine." He replied, "I was planning on dropping by to give you this. It should help with er pain." He smiled.
I gave him a thank you and walked out of the clinic. I looked at the bottle, carefully. Is this medicine going to cure my Grandmother? I decided not to stall, right now, and run back.
I ran into the forest. Suddenly, I felt very uneasy and stopped halfway through. The forest... Doesn't look right. I do not remember passing by a large rock. Or by a small well. I ran straight the entire time, so how could I possibly turn direction? I looked around. I noticed a small garden of the most beautiful flowers, and sunlight beaming down on them. Staring at them takes the uneasiness away from me. I felt calm and content. I sat in the garden and started to stare at the flowers. After much staring, I started to pick them. Grandmother would love to have a gift like this. I picked up lillies, carnations, roses, lavenders, chamomiles, and daisies. I now have a bouqet in my hands, in colorful array.
I noticed something in the corner of my eye. When I turned to look at it, I froze. It was tall, as tall as two bulls stacked on top of each other. It's eyes were a goldish brown, and it glowed in the darkness. It's teeth were like knives, but with a crimson tint on them. It's fur was black as the darkest night. And it's form resembles a wolf. I stared at it in fear.
It spoke, "Well... Look who's come for dinner..." It's voice was low and guttural - almost hideous. A chill ran up my spine, and my body grew cold. I could see a large, toothly grin on his face.
My mind tries to tell my body to move. But, no matter how much my mind tells it to do so, my body will not move. The wolf crept closer to me, while drooling and still smiling.
"You look tasty, piglet...! I cannot wait to hear you, squealing for your life!" It paces closer and closer. As soon as it was, at least, a few meters from me, it lunged right over me.
At that moment, I could feel the adrenaline and energy flow through my body. I quickly got up and ran. I looked back, and I could see it just standing there. Why won't it chase after me? Would it rather not use its energy? Or did it use all of its energy to lunge at me? I stopped when I have reached a safe distance from it. We both stared at each other.
The wolf's smile faded and turned into rage. "I will get you! I know where you live! I will kill you!!" And it disappeared into the darkness of the forest.
I ran towards the direction my house, tripping along the way. After tripping at least thirteen times, I stopped and walked towards a tree. I sheltered myself in there and cried. The tears ran down my legs, and I felt stinging pain. I looked at them and they were covered in cuts and bruises, from tripping. I cried even more, knowing that this had happened because I got lost, and Grandmother would be angry. So many tears fell on my leg that they, eventually, grew numb.
After hours of silence, I have finally calmed down. My legs finally have gotten the strength to walk. I stood up and looked towpards the path I take. Everything is starting to look familiar. The trees have the same marking as I remembered. The bushes are where they need to be. I felt relieved to see this, and used the remaining energy I had to run back home.
The closer I got to my home, the more uneasy I felt. I remembered what the wolf had said. It knows where I live. Will it attack my Grandmother? I ran even faster at the thought.
I have areived at my house. Everything looked normal. There were no signs of a wolf attack, according to that wolf's size. I did a search around the exterior of the house, and nothing was damaged. Same goes for the interior. Maybe the wolf was trying to scare me?
I walked up to my Grandmother's room and walked towards her bed. "Grandmother! I have medicine from the doctor! He says it should help!" I ran to her side. As soon as I did, I backed away, instinctively. She looked larger than she was before. Her appearance was strange.
Dumbfounded, I asked, "Grandmother, what happened to you?"
"Oh, dearie... I must be so ill... That I am bloating...!" Her voice was abnormally low, and I could sense a wry smile forming on her face.
"Grandmother, what happened to your voice?!"
"Oh my... I believe that the illness has affected my vocal chords...! My voice doesn't sound the same!"
I remembered the doctor giving me medicine and I pulled it out. "Here! I have some medicine! The doctor says that it'll help!"
"Really? Oh, I am so relieved." She stretches her arms out.
I jumped back. "Grandmother! Why do you have such large arms?!"
Grandmother pulls her arms back. "Why... God must have seen me as weak and helpless... He gave me the nice big arms to hug my favorite grandaughter." Something starts to flick on her nightcap, causing it to fall off. Huge ears were revealed.
"Ah! Grandmother! Why do you have big ears?!"
"Hahaha...! I have gotten so old, so I asked God for large ears so I could hear you better..." She smiled widly, revealing large fangs.
I panicked. "Eek!! W-why do you have such large teeth, Grandmother!!" Grandmother laughed, menacingly. She stood up, as clothes start to tear off. It wasn't Grandmother. It was the wolf.
"Why...? Why?!" It cackled. The wolf lunges at me, mouth wide open. "The bigger the teeth..." It sinks its fangs into my leg. "The better to eat you with!!"
I was slowly devoured by the monster. His teeth, digging into my skin and tearing out internal organs. Blood splattering everywhere. My vision starts to fade. I start to choke in my own blood. Everything turns black.
It all happened in that one boring autumn day...

- This is amazing! I really liked the writing. I adore the way you udes the word ''God'' in this story, it actually sounds believable, like what a grandmother would say! But it has its cons, like the wolf sinking its teeth in the leg of the girl but still talking afterwards; good story nonetheless! 5 stars out of 5.
