I looked around the field I had felled in, but there was no one in sight. All I had done was fail to protect one person, but I guess that was all it took. No one told me that the crystal was her life, and no one told me to protect it with my life. My main mission was to protect her body while the ritual was going on, I didn't know the ritual would shatter the crystal, but then again, how was this my fault. Did they just need someone to blame it on, and they found me the most useless...
I brush myself off not really wanting to think about it. They had stripped me off my wings and my small halo that hung right about my head. Guess they didn't want me to be a freak in my new home, or at least they didn't claim me to be an angel anymore. They didn't strip me of my memories, which I have seen them do too many people. Such a shame of something I've seen, maybe id like to not have the pain of these past events, but then again, that may be why they let me keep them.
No need to mope about this. I see small amounts of feathers falling from the sky, knowing these were the feathers from my wings. I tried to stay strong, but some tears still fell from my checks. I watched the tears fall from my face, as they land on a small crystal object on the floor. I picked up the small pieces to soon realize this was my broken halo. The tears fall from my face more onto the broken halo, glowing a light red. The Halo still glowed the color of my feelings, which meant I still had some of my angel powers. I looked around for a rock or sharp stick. When I found a rock that met my standards I used it to cut my wrist open and let the blood flow fall on the Halo. My cut soon healed itself, as the Halo healed itself to. I still had healing powers, which was good to know.
I shoved the halo into my shirt that was torn and dirty and tried to look for somewhere to settle down for a little bit. I had known this area quite well because I had a mission here not too long ago. I remember it like it was just yesterday. My mission was to protect the people of the meteor heading straight for their town, and I did it. Under the time I was given to. I smile to myself from that memory. And yet, here I am. In the dirt, because they needed someone to blame.
I frown at the light of the sun when I walked into town. It was just low enough to bug you but high enough to light the city floor. People stared at me as I walked the street of the city. My skin was fair and clean, while my shirt and skirt where tattered and ripped. I sighed and walked into a thrift store. I needed to get something else to wear before people start offering me food. I'm not homeless, well I guess I am, but that's not because I don't know where I belong. I belong in the sky, the place where all angels lay, and to serve the goddess herself.
After what seemed like forever I settled on a simple colored blouse shirt, and a black flowing skirt. I look at the Halo and pull twenty dollars out of it, I was so grateful I was still allowed to do this. I use to come down the earth to get things to decorate my angel room, so I got my Halo updated to where it could do that. I'm happy I did now, or I may have been screwed. I paid for the clothing while I was still wearing it, and I walked out of the door. I got looks from men and woman as I walked by, and children always wanted to walk up to me. Angel always had the pull on people, but I guess mine has faded to work on so few. It's not like I was trying to seduce people, I never did that kind of thing, but some Angels used it to their advantage.
I finally ended up at a park when the moon was rising in the sky. I guess I was sleeping on the park bench just for tonight. With the money I can make I can find an apartment or something tomorrow. My stomach made a weird sound, and I had no idea why. I had seen Humans eat things, but as an angel, you didn't need to eat. What kind of things did humans eat anyway? I look at the ground. They didn't eat dirt, that's for sure. I look over to see a hot dog stand still there. It was only seven-thirty, but the moon hung high. I knew if I didn't move now I wouldn't be able to get anything to eat before tomorrow. I walk over there and set a dollar on the stand, the man smiled, and gave me one hotdog. I nod my head giving thanks and walk off. It's not that I didn't know how to speak, it's just I didn't feel like speaking.
It was now eleven pm, and I can't sleep. Angel doesn't need to sleep, and I don't feel tired at all, I wonder if this is another thing that stayed with me as I fell. This, however, does not make as much sense. I was looking at the dark sky when someone walked over to me. It was a boy, but he looked around the age of twenty or so. "What are you doing out here at midnight?" He asked, looking at my bare shoulders in the cold weather. I just look at him, with my silver white eyes. He bit his lip as he looked me in the face. Has he ever seen the eye color of an Angel before? "Y-You shouldn't be out here... You will get hurt." He said taking my hand, not caring if I didn't want to go with him.
I stop and look at him, the Halo still hid in my shirt starting to grow warmer on my chest. I breathe in, trying to remember how to speak English, it had been some time since I had learned it. "Where are you taking me?" I managed to say. I was proud of myself for remembering the basics.
"Away from the dark." He said as he kept walking.
He took me past many buildings and many houses. I didn't know where we were going. He stopped and looked at me, his eyes glowed a lime green. A tracker... I backed away from him, and he seemed to tense up. Trackers were to find Angels who disobeyed their orders and to kill them. I didn't do anything, why would a tracker be here. Did they really blame me for everything? I could tell he saw the worry in my eyes, and he extended his hand out. "I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to take you back home."
