When Clouds Fall
I stood next to the glass window, chilling to the touch. My breath and heat fogged the transparent sheet that separated me from the world outside.
"What happens when the clouds fall?"
I had asked this to my sister. The sky was dark yet it was day. The blue of the sky obscured and my eyes were heavy with sleep.
"Rain."
Was her only reply as she tapped away at her tablet.
I stared up at the clouds, dark and angry.
Then the first of the rain fell, soft and pattering before it morphed into a thunderous downpour.
I closed my eyes and let the thrumming of the rain soothe my anxieties.
"When you watch a cloud rain from afar, it looks as if the clouds are falling..." I had murmured to myself as water rippled down the window, distorting the view of the outside.
"Rain is beautiful in its own right" I watched droplets of water pitter-patter into puddles on the pathway and roll lazily off leaves, "yet it feels so sad..."
My sister had reasoned in her peculiar logic;
"Melancholy is like, when clouds fall."
