- I met her voice before I met her eyes. In the forest I sat, ferns bowing over my feet, mist collecting in my hair. And her song came to me. It was roaring, deafening, dominating. Notes crashed against the melodic shore while storm clouds of terror and untamed fury hung above the ever present bass. What an aberration, that movement of chaos! My ears did eagerly wait as the notes moved, smoothed, and glided together. How ingenious of that girl to fall to the opposite song, to blend chaos and peace, to create, in all her innocence, the ultimate melodic harmony. A harmony of gentle waves, fading in and out, washing the mind with soothing sound. Oh, what fool would think this lady ingenuous? Her song flowing with the waters, changing from grey/green disorder to blue serenity. What folly to rationalize a song like this, a song that makes one’s mind fly through thought yet rest in the oblivion of nothing. This luminous song, sung on the edges of the earth, conducted by cosmic light. Oh this woman, this mother of all, sing to me! Sing to me as I approach, as I see your flowing emerald hair, as I glance your eyes brimming with life. Sing to me, my ocean!

- Title: Hymn of the Ocean
- Artist: KittyMcConnaha
- Description: After some consideration, I decided to enter this in poetry/lyrics. It seems more like prose to me and not quite long enough to be in the fiction category. I used this for a contest long ago but wanted to see how it would fare here. This piece is inspired by the waters off the coast of Washington. There's something that draws me there, and every time I try to solidify it with words, it only becomes more elusive . . .
