“Old man why © Gods Receptionist
Do you cry?”
I asked a feeble homeless man one day.
I asked him if he want to come to my house, for a short stay.
I was only three,
And I was an orphan and there was no one else but me.
He refused
And he looked at me, he looked confused.
“I am old,
And it is starting to get cold.
I have no coat, just this shirt,
And my only shelter is this dirt. © Gods Receptionist
My shoes are now so worn,
And my only pair of pants are torn.
This winter, I may not survive.
My only wish is to stay alive.
I have no food at all to eat.
My, oh, my how I long for meat.
I had always wanted a family too, © Gods Receptionist
But to tell the truth, the only child I’ve talked to is you.
Now it’s getting dark, and I will be unable to see.
So please, go and let me be.”
I tilted my head and thought.
This was why the man was so distraught?
“It will be dark, that’s good ‘cuz now you will not see,
That small tear in your pants by your knee.
You will not be able to see that you have no coat or that your shoes are worn, © Gods Receptionist
Or see that ALL your clothes are torn.
And if you make believe it’s summer, you won’t be cold.
And imagine that you are a king, eating a plate of food made of gold.”
I said as I started to suck on my thumb.
It tasted like plum.
The old man chuckled, stood up and turned away. © Gods Receptionist
“I guess tomorrow is a new day.
And now I see things in a new way.
That was such a nice thing you say.
I shall now think as you think, do as you do.
Now, all I can say is, Thank you.”
He clicked his heel and went.
I hardly knew myself what he meant.
I smiled and went back on my way.
This was truly a beautiful day. © Gods Receptionist

- yeah and you kinda forced the rhyming in a few parts, like with the thumb/plum thing.
