Once Upon a time
The old cliché
Of tales and rhyme
Was led astray
The husband went missing
The princess fled
The child was crying
The prince soon found dead
To freedom she went
Alone with her child
Internally torment
Externally she smiled
A family she gained
But never re-wed
A “Happily” she obtained
Stories she read
The ending was different
But still just fine
Frown? She wouldn’t
The princess’ smile would always shine
- Title: Happily Ever After
- Artist: iMoony
- Description: Last school year my English teacher decided to give us a book to read. One of our choosing from a list of classics. I choose Briar Rose. Part of the task was to read the book, of course, and then write a quatrain poem summarizing the story in whatever way. Here's what I wrote using the rhyming scheme "abab".
