Nothing was quite going right
But nothing much was wrong
And nothing much was bad
But not really nothing good
So I was kind of caught
In a float
In a strange place called neutral
That I don’t find too often
So I sat there for a little while
Looking down on the same familiar street below
And flipping the pages
To a novel I wish could be my life
And the lack of sleep
From last nights fun
Was holding me steady in a
Half awake daze that
Was keeping me still
In the way the Jell-O would
If I were stuck inside
But I’ve been sitting still too long
So I take the slow riding
Steps back down to reality
Where I’m still half asleep
And nothing was quite right
And everything was wrong
And lots of things was bad
But I wasn’t really not good
So I was still stationary
In a time that seemed frozen
To all but the birds and
Cicadas
In that strange place called neutral
Where the airplane flying overhead
Is only that
Without much meaning
Same as the people riding inside
Which wasn’t bad because
Without meaning
There is no right
And without right
There ain’t wrong either
But I’d been sitting still too long
So I walked out on the street
Only to find that time hadn’t frozen
And even if I wanted the street to be
Empty and
Quiet and
Clear
The cars were still there
