The wound of battle killed like cattle by the of others and the thought of my mother
The bombs drop as we leave the trench could have been us if not for luck
The Germans run amuck as we take back the freedom they took
The agony of the posters sink in as the beer goes down and the canisters drop in the gas is here with chaos and fear we fumble are masks as we nearly drop our flasks as one man gets gassed and slowly dies.
Its no longer a wound but a scar the war has gone too far the gas has taken away our friends we’ll make the Germans make amends.
How could I forget my sights the gassy death of a brave knight
Can you imagine that wooden wall the gas seeping in like a mouse so small.
The wagon has its way the body taken away by a horse so strong but soon killed by a war so wrong.
Can you say this war is right the Pisces stars burn throughout the night so bright and look after us don’t join become a conchi suggest to others to take up tai chi.
