• Fitting in

    Laughter at someone else’s expense,
The flash of pain that is quickly hidden,
    The crude feeling of revenge,
Where going your own way is forbidden.

We are supposed to feel confident,
To know that no one can bring us down,
But do we really feel these things?
Maybe it’s just a big race, for the crown.

In the end we’re all just like snakes.
Squeezing each other, tighter and tighter,
Until one of us snaps and becomes dinner.
In the end it all comes down to the best fighter.

Nothing is harder than trying to be known,
To be seen by those who count, who are seen.
We want it all, the fame and the glamour,
Do we want all these words that are obscene?

The tunnel seems to point in one direction,
But if you turn on the light, you’ll see another way.
Where there is evil and spite, there is good and kind.
Life is not always unfair, come what may.
