Roll the camera, dress yourself
You're all ready to go.
What a pretty face, you think that
Life is just a show.
Of course, it's all in business.
The benefit of win.
No, you don't cry, you just evade
The trouble that you're in.
Welcome to the masquerade.
We hope you're welcome here.
Put on your mask, and hope that no one
Notices your fear.
Ignore the hurt, ignore the hopes,
Ignore the constant shame.
Keep it up, and soon enough,
We all will know your name.
Ignore the anger; boiling point,
Ignore the falling tear.
Welcome to the masquerade.
We hope you're welcome here.
I do hope you won't stumble,
For then you'll have to fall.
Because one day your mask will crumble,
And we'll know it all.
We'll know the hurt, we'll crush your hopes,
We'll mark you as the blame.
Keep it up, and soon enough
We all will know your game.
We'll make you angry. Make you boil,
Watch you as you cry.
Now we all know, your secret's out,
There's no reason to lie.
But this will never happen.
It's the benefit of win.
You'll always play the lead part.
It's show business that you're in.

Description:
Written January 16th, 2008.
The idea's been mentioned in a lot of my other poems, what with the "mask" thing and such, but I thought I'd finally whip out a whole poem about the subject. Yeah, we all are liars, what's new. This is one of the few poems my myself that I actually like. You'll notice a pattern.
Please don't steal; I know you won't. =.= - Date: 12/25/2008
