I wish that I could give you
The greatest wish that man could ever express.
However, all the wishes I've conjured in my head,
Are things you already seem to possess.
I wish I can wish you success,
But I know that your life story still unfolds
With great memories of the past,
And many yet to be told.
I wish I can wish you courage,
But what roads have you've not taken?
You always start with the plan figured out in your head,
Seeing it 'till the end, unshaken.
I wish I can wish you love and happiness,
But you already hold that scintillating light.
Your presence brightens those you've know for years,
And many in whom you've met the first time.
And I can only wish for a wish that's not been said,
But for you, there is not much left to say.
As your smile flows lavishly the merits of life,
I can only wish for you to stay that way.

Description:
I wrote the last quatrain in my head during a sweet sixteen to keep it simple and sweet, created the rest for a monthly poetry slam.
I was last in line to say my "wish" along with my girlfriend; the people in front of me said the 'cliche things that you would expect to hear, "blah blah blah". Well, I just asked myself what can I wish for someone who is already good in the way they are. Well... I couldn't. =) - Date: 12/30/2008
