What’s the Time
In a New York minute?
What’s the rush
In a city that never sleeps.
Grab a snickers
In some 7/11 store.
Hitch hike your way
To where the stars play.
Strut on the streets
In Sunny California.
Make love in secret
On a Midnight shore.
Walk on water
Under the Golden Gate Bridge.
Grab a ride on a Chicago Train
After you kiss your honey in the rain.
Hear a Hymn
That lifts your soul.
It come from a Church
Living on prayer and faith in the Ghetto.
See the Devil
In the City of Angels.
Spit in his face
And keep on walking.
Tip a waitress
At the local Waffle House.
Watch and wait,
Tomorrow, she hits Broadway.
Can you hear the Anthem
In a moment of Silence?
Freedom flies and Children Cry
“One Nation Under God
Indivisble
With Liberty and Justice for all.”
Amen
