From time back to the present
Never gone in any moment
Prejudice has never been absent
Is it because we are different?
Is it because of our difference?
The source of our profound malevolence
The cause of our unending vehemence
An excuse for our indifference
When shall it come, the time of ending?
In this time of plight and suffering
Will we ever see it coming?
Or see it before our very eyes, dying?
When shall it come, the hope, the light?
Amidst a time shrouded by the darkness of the night
It shall shine, ever bright
Giving hope and sight
From truth we have been blind
That from which we shall find
That which would release us from the bind
The salvation for humankind
Was it difference that caused such?
Pain, it has given much
As the hands revolve inside history’s watch
It seems impossible to be freed from its clutch
But along this, I dare wish
That this plague may vanish
The blade of justice, I shall brandish
My foe, I shall vanquish
Difference, to us it may gore
But still I search for more
For justice, I adore
Shackled by difference, nevermore

Description:
This was a poem I made for our chorale piece to be recited by our class in an interclass contest. This poem was made not just to look good but to impart good as well. Hope you'll like it and be touched by it.

Thanks a whole lot for reading my poem and to those very kind words!
I poured out all my heart in making this. I would really appreciate if victory be granted upon us, but all I want is for us to give out our very best and share a message which is direly needed in our society today.
I just hope that such day will come. A time that we may truly say that we a shackled by difference, nevermore.
Thanks for the comment! biggrin - Report As Spam

- *sniff sniff* So true, so true. I really nearly went and got a tissue, the rhyming is so perfect, yet they are not random words that just sound the same. I love all the rhetorical questions, and the emotions that they leave behind like a bruise after a fall. I really love this poem so much I think it just needs a 5/5, well done, I hope you win.
