• When I stepped out of my house this morning
    I saw nothing but a
Half a dozen big black roses
At the end of my drive
    And a man who said
    He was just passing by

    It's three and a half
    Great years later
    I'm walking down the aisle
    He lifts my veil
And I can't help but smile
    And i'm carrying
Half a dozen big black roses

    Its two years later
    Our first big fight
    Because he came home late
    The other night
    He's on the couch
    I'm in the bedroom
    And the next morning
    I wake up to
Half a dozen big black roses

    It's ten years later
This morning soldiers came to my door

    Standing in this graveyard tonight
    I'm all dressed in black
But my face is a pale white
And I'm holding a folded flag

    It's three months later
    And I visit his grave
    Every week
    I'm so choked up
    That I can't even speak
    So I just leave
Half a dozen big black roses
