I passed an old man
On Waverly Way
He fell to a bench
I picked up his hand
And he began the story
A little girl
Skipped merrily along
Past birds and bees
And cats and dogs
And troubles and lies
And rumors and spies
Skipping merrily along
Waverly Way
Alone on a bench
Sat a prompt young boy
Licking his ice cream
Eyeing a girl
Carefree as any
Skipping along Waverly Way
The prompt little boy
Was a victim of such
The little girl passed
He had gloried in lies
Rumors and spies
And his trouble had spat him back out
He had stopped the girl
His envy growing
Until his eyes burned green
And she ran away
Tears in her eyes
Her care caught up to her
And her heavenly glow dimmed
The envious boy
Now realized his wrong
Spat out his envy, lies
Rumors and spies
Ran to the girl
Righted his wrong
And they skipped together merrily
Along Waverly Way
As the old man reminisced
His hand grew warm
As an old brittle woman
Cackling with glee
Her heavenly glow returned mutually
Helped up her husband
And together they skipped
Along Waverly Way
Forever rid of
His troubles, rumors
Lies and spies
He skipped with the mirth
Of a boy
Who had sat on a bench
Licking his ice cream
Watching his saving grace
Come skipping down Waverly Way
