    Forced into silence
    Ice on the throat
    Ice water in hand
    Relaxation comes with a price
    Barely bearable pain
    Can’t swallow
    Can’t speak
    Can’t open my mouth
    What to do to pass the time?
    Twiddle my toes?
    I see the creepy teddy bear
    It has no eyes so I can’t see
    Whether it’s staring at you or me
    Coughing hurts
    Eating hurts
    Drinking hurts
    Even turning my head hurts!
