• Ruffling my feathers with great distress
I chirp and let out a cry.
It's time for me to leave the nest.
It's time I learn how to fly.

I hop farther down the branch
And stop to take a final breath.
I decide to take a chance
To fly or fall to my death.

I leap and spread out my wings.
    I clumsily dip and dive.
I crash through the leaves and everything,
But every bird needs to know how to fly.
