I Write This Down

I write this down to express my emotion
I write this down to show my devotion
I write this down to show you I care
I write this down even though it’s not fair

That some should suffer through life
And some live without strife
But it doesn’t affect me, not anymore
I care less about it than I did before

So I write this down to show all my love
I write this down as if blessed from above
I write this down as a final gift
I write this down before I shift

For so long I loved you so
But finally now I’m letting go
I’m giving up my worst habit
No longer will it inhabit

I write this down as a final goodbye
I write this down as I take off and fly
I write this down without the bloodstains
I write this down without the chains
