Sleeping silently in the night
Fireflies flickering bright
A little angel she is
I bend down and give her a kiss

in the next room there is a fight
nothing in this house is right
mom's punches fly
little brother starts to cry

little angel stay asleep
outside your door a monster creeps
mommy's in a bad mood today
I promise one day it will be okay

I wash his face and fix his hair
I say be quiet or she will hear
We will leave very soon
there you go now go to your room

baby brother go to sleep
all my secrets you must keep
mommy can't know that we are going away
if you want you can see her again someday

in the morning we will be leave
then you can have dreams to achieve
please God guide our way
there is no way i can let them stay

into the night they sneak
through the woods along the creek
A friend waiting down the road
heart beating so fast it's about to explode

gets to the car
then takes a moment to look at the stars
she carefully puts the sleeping angels in
it's time for their new life to begin.

It's very well written, and I love the repetition of the phrase "go to sleep". It conveys a certain urgency, to me, that they need to be calm and quiet while they get away. Again, very deep, and very good. : )
