• She's gorgeous
even if she is too thin and walks like a p***k
and you notice she's got a frog's mouth and no hips
and her handwriting is sloppy. You don't know how you remember that
    but not her name
as you crawl into her bed.
She's like a pile of wire coat hangers and broken glass in the sack
and she tries to sound deep afterwards when you're pulling on your pants
but you recognize the lyrics and she blushes,
    caught.

You run into her two days later and she spots you
as you try to duck behind an apple and potato stand.
You're aware you're supposed to feel guilty when she remembers your name.
You don't. So you accept her invitation to a "party" and follow behind her
throw down your hand basket, too lazy to return.

This party goes until nine the next morning.
You wake up to find her hand in your shirt.
    She smells of other women
and you remember her name now.
She went to your father's funeral. She blew you off under the trees
    when you faked tears.
She'd seemed a lot prettier, then.
You whisper this to yourself and realize she's saying your name
    in her sleep.

There is never a better time to go.

You see her three weeks later with the girl you recongize as Shampayne
who writes her 's' with a sassy twist. She waves you over
pulls on her sleeve and then
you are all three in the woods.
You can't see straight and they're out cold
when you start to remember what it feels like to have friends.
You take off your leather coat, cover them both.

You see her in five days
    sitting on the bench.
She's looking particularly thin and her eyes are painted
blue and black. She steals a smoke and jokes
    about the other guy.
You give cash for a sandwich
    cash for a ride.
She tells you it's her birthday
    as you're walking away.
She tells you she'll see you soon as you're walking away.
You don't wave good bye as you walk away.

You see her nine days later, painted on paper
black and blue and red all over.
You decide you'll see her two days later
just to get your coat back.
