Listening to her sing,
My eyes begin to lose function as
Staccato music notes begin to
Paint a replacement for this imperfect world.
I now know heaven exists because
Not only am I already in hell, but
I am hearing this angel
Sent down here to comfort the damned.
Her solid gold voice
Brings me back to yesterdays
When special moments didn't
Need special occasions.
Oh Angel, teach me how to be strong again, for
I've let myself become weak,
Poisoning my spirit with
Doubts over ever-lasting peace,
Thoughts of dreams beyond my reach,
I do beseech
You:
Paint me a replacement for this imperfect world, and
I'll build your vision with these hands that
Are strong once more.

- Title: For the Singer
- Artist: Poetic Progression
- Description: In writing workshop today, one of our poets expressed her poem in the form of song. She had a great voice, one of the writing coaches saying, "You got pipes, girl!". On a sudden burst of inspiration, the other writing coach suggested the rest of us write about her singing. Here's what I came up with.
