• Two brothers both still and sure,
    Fought together for the cure.
    Though neither side seemed weakened,
The brothers knew it had to end.

Through battle they fought side by side,
‘Till at last when the strengths collide.
The war was ended through pain and sorrow,
They look for peace for tomorrow.

The brothers come home to a world so small,
But they know the truth and that is not all.
One turned to the other and said,

“Together we fought and to this has led,
To a disloyalty between you and me,
And only now do I see
That you were wrong and gave away,
Secrets that we together vowed not to say.
Now I see that we must fight against another,
To find out who is the true and loyal brother.”

When the first had finished the second said,
“You challenge me knowing you will end up dead?
You think that you fight for what is right,
But let me tell you on this cruel night,
Brother against brother who would win?

That is not known so let us begin.”
And with these words a fight began,
Brother against brother until one ran.

He shouted over a bloody shoulder and said,
“I thought you were the one to end up dead,
But as I’ve seen I was the one to be beaten,
In the darkness where shadows lengthen.”

Two brothers both still and sure,
Fought against one another for the cure.
To himself the first one thought,
“Look at what this fight has brought,
Brother against brother that was wrong,
And now I can almost hear the gong,
War and pain, Fear and doubt, Tears and sorrow,
I look toward peace for tomorrow.

    But as I can see,
That future of peace cannot be.
    Knowing that you are alive,
It makes me have to stride,
Toward another war yet to begun,
As I now see the setting sun.

Brother against brother if that is how it should be,
Then you will carry out this war ‘till you kill me.
Between now and then I will have to prepare,
    For this upcoming warfare.”

    And with that last thought,
The brother turned to see what that day had brought.
The others that fought now looked up at the solo brother,
And all vowed upon their own mother,
That into this night and to the next day,
What has happened they vowed not to say.

Two brothers both still and sure,
Fought each other for the cure.
One to live and one to die,
    As always as shadows lie.
