I understand that there are a lot of opinions.
I bet more than 7 gazillion
But.
I, Kathy, officially say, that magic is 100 percent real.
I have the proof. I have hard facts. I have this feel-
ing that they’re here right now.
I try to contact them somehow.
I hope that someday they’ll respond.
Wow! I think I just saw some glitter.
Whoa! Was that a wing? No, it was two!
Golly! My heart is racing fastly!
Well, quickly, ‘cause fastly’s not a word,
But could my hypothesis be true?
I’ve calculated that fairies don’t show up just for fun.
They have reasons; they’re busy and have places to be.
They don’t show up for just anyone.
So I’ve been doing what Peter Pan told me to do.
Well not in person, but dreams count too
Right? I’ve always wanted to meet him!
Well I’m getting off topic – I’m ADHD –
But my ritual at 8:45 – 5 minutes past my bed time –
I know, it’s pretty cool I can stay up that late –
Is I look at the moon and wish, and imagine; truly believe
That fairies are there even though we can’t see
Them and surely enough there he is!
Yeah, that’s right!
I called it. They exist!
Look at him fly.
He just fluttered by my desk!
“OMG!” I exclaimed.
“I can touch you!” I touched.
“I can see you!” I stared.
“I can here you, and smell you, and taste – wait, that would be weird.”
“Backtrack a bit. OM … what?” he replied.
I said, “Duh! It means ohmigawd.
But, besides,
I never knew there were fairy guys!”
He said wryly, “Of course there are!
And there's girls, too. That's just common sense.
But you’re getting off track. Anyways –“
I smiled and blurted, “Yeah, I’m ADHD.”
“Umm, okay?
If you’re done with that awfully long reaction
I’ll have you know my name’s Dave Sparkler McGee,
And the reason I’m here is ‘cause I’ve got a liking for kids who believe
If ya know what I mean.
I’ve come to grant you a simple wish. What would you like?
What is your dream?”
I stuttered, “For real? For me?”
“Yup,” He responded.
“You’ve earned it all right.
For truly believing, every day, every night.”
So I racked through my brain
What could I possibly want?
My dream just came true!
Shouldn’t that be enough?
“I can’t think of anything good I can wish for
So how ‘bout a level up from this crazy reality.
Is it possible to become a fairy myself?”
Dave thunk - I mean thought - about my question.
“The truth is that’s not really allowed.
The height limit is 10 inches max,
And you’re like 4 more feet passed.
But if you’d like to see and talk with us fairies,
I can at least help you become a seer.
As long as you keep our secret between us,
I can give you a special pixie dust
That allows you to speak to fairies nearby.
You can see us more often,
So do you oblige?”
“Of course! This’ll be totally epic!
This is more than I wished,
I’m excited already!”
He handed me a bag, now I’m totally ready.
I shook his little hand and he disappeared once again.
I jumped on my bed, too excited to rest.
So now that you know that magic is real,
No matter whatever hullabaloo
You should always believe, every day, every night,
Because believing makes absolutely anything come true.
