well, in the song that inspired it, they loved each other but when the guy came back from the war, he found the woman had cheated on him. he still loved her but he left since he thought she didn't. he later killed himself. when she found out, she was devastated since she still loved him. in the end, she killed herself to be with him

..... Just out of curiosity ..... How can love tear people apart?
I always thought that it brought them closer ...........
