i.
june nights spoke
of the first time
i breathed into you.
your blue-grey eyes
bore into mine
and suddenly
every cliché love song
fell into place.
ii.
our lives were antebellum melodies,
shadows dancing
on the white front porch
under a tragic graveyard
of stars.
we spent july
whispering overused affections
in each other’s ears
ignoring the jealous stares
that came with it.
iii.
then august winds
started to blow
and our kisses grew
more urgent.
suddenly constellations
no longer formed our bodies
and my chapped lips
grew numb
without your touch.
iv.
you began to forget
and my mind started
to play games
as the salty breeze
descended into september.
i dreamt no more
but instead wrote wishes
in a cracked glass bottle
left in the sea, along with
my severed heart.

- Title: summer in d-minor
- Artist: fadingdusk
- Description: The sky was dark but the lights were bright. And there we were. Standing in the bar, bubbling like cheap pink margaritas in plastic wine glasses. God, I miss those nights. I miss the bittersweet moments, knowing the change to come but refusing to believe.
