Ideas rising; bubbles from the mind,
Perhaps decisions live illusory
It may be true virtue is undefined,
To seek a meaning would be foolery
We occupy a harmless enigma;
Made dreadful through mad interpretation.
Underlying truth, Abracadabra!
Our meaning came to pass as creation.
We stand programmed by nature ere nurture.
Gray matter rests as whole components fail,
A silly number miss the departure,
Unless ourselves decay to no avail.
A blank canvas awaiting one painter,
The inner workings pondered forever.
- Title: 42

- Description: ‘42’ is “The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.” (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). The real issue here is: What is the question? Perhaps it’s impossible to know both the answer and the question. I used this title as a hint for what my poem is about. My poem is about the big questions we ask about life/universe.
