Green is my color, more than it is yours,
Confusing, no?
But true.
Green meant vitality, so long ago,
Yet white withers it, destroys it,
Prevents Spring anew.
So like, green, I am faded,
Dead grass beneath your steel boot
I am what happened to your dried-up hopes,
I am the flower that never could bloom.
How funny, is it not?
How utterly baffling am I?
The world you see in me is nothing but delusion,
Dreams from a dying man's eye.
I forgive you, however,
As much as I wish I could not
For you see, it's a mistake so easily made as
The one you loved then is also the same shade.
She was the green you know and love,
She was the flower blooming under the sun,
She was the oak that gave you sweet shade
And I am nothing.
Nothing, but the cheap imitation that you have made.
