Gaia's New Platinum Currency

So anyone else tried out converting their Gold to Platinum and tested out doing stuff on the site to see how much Platinum is received per action? I'm still actually playing around to see how much I get for doing various things.

It is pretty weird. I had about 8.5 billion gold yesterday before I converted and now I have 1,076 platinum. So far I keep doing a rough conversion in my head to see how much I have Gold-wise because that is what I'm used to having. That coverts to around 10.76 billion gold. I do like the increase very much. I mean I've been stuck at around 8.5 billion gold for months. Getting the equivalent of about 2 billion in a day is pretty awesome.

Also is it just me or does this dual currency system slow down the loading of Gaia pages for you too?

going from 14 something billion gold to 1,456 platinum is a bit, disheartening. I get that it's a larger quantity of numbers and all but I don't feel that rich anymore.

Huh, I guess they finally gave up on fixing the gold economy and are trying to create a whole new one. kind of late but hopefully it works out.

Lanzer had actually said he was going to do this a while back. It just took him a while to work out how it would work and everything. I mean they could've done this to Gold, but there would've probably been backlash if people were forced to have their Gold divided by 10 million.

I just came back today and my gold was already converted. I don't remember how much I used to have in gold. But I currently have 561 platinum. It seems so low, but somehow it feels a bit refreshing.

As of right now I earned a couple from Daily Chance, and one from voting. Not sure about posting yet as this is my first one since returning.

Interesting. I wonder if it's no longer optional. They divided everything by 10mil with the Platinum, so you would've had around 5.61 bil Gold before.

EDIT: It's still optional. I checked Account Settings and it can still be converted. I guess they just had it auto-convert anyone who didn't choose one or the other within a certain amount of time. Or maybe it was people who were currently inactive.

After returning from a long a hiatus... My 3 accounts have 500 platinum each o.O I don't remember how much I actually had in all but it makes me feel shortchanged and feeling broke compared to MP prices that I was browsing a bit.
