Yes, Zikaru, Punimon digivolves to Tsunomon, then Gabumon, the Garurumon, the Weregarurumon, then Metalgarurumon.

Yes, Gabumon and Wormmon seem to be popular now. Personally, I have loved Gabumon for years now, even though I started out as an Agumon guy.
