MommiiDearest
[ >.> ]

Xaundellyn gave a startled gasp as she looked about. It was as beautiful as anything you'd find in her kingdom, but with it's own unique elements. "I've never seen anything like this." For some reason she felt the need to keep her voice hushed, as to not disturb the scenery.

Maverick smiled and said "I know what you mean. The first time I stumbled upon this it stole my breathe away." He looked over at hiss future bride and said "Have you ever been swimming before?" This was his own way of learning about the elven princess. To him it was much more interesting to learn hands on then sit and ask questions. He hoped they would learn much about each other this way.

Xaundellyn shook her head and walked farther down the path, "I used to play in this cute little clear watered stream in the orchard down the hill from my home when I was a child, but it was not deep enough to swim in, so I never learned how."

(so ummm, should I just continue as if I was alone from the beginning and just pick up where I left off with NPC's?)

((Whatever you think is best..I have no ideas XD))

Maverick smiled at her and said "I could teach you. If you'd like..." A light blush hit his cheeks at the full realization of what his offer would entail. He held his hand out for her.

Xaundellyn's long fingered hands reached up and covered her lips in a nervous yet giddy gesture. "You would do that? Mother always said 'swimming isn't an art for Ladies'." But there was excitement in her dark grey eyes at the thought. "My youngest sister could swim. She taught herself just to make mother mad. She is funny that way, always thinking outside the box." Her face softened when she spoke of her sister.

Maverick nodded and said "What Momma don't know, won't hurt her." He said with a playful wink. "Thinking outside the box huh? Sounds like she's a real rebel herself.." He chuckled to himself and said "I would be glad to teach you..but you may want to remove your clothes so you have something dry to put after you're done swimming." His eyes filled with minor excitment himself, there was a passion in him of teaching and learning new things. Also he was sure by know Atahlea was on the hunt for him, and he did so enjoy evading her detection...even if it was always short lived.

She instantly reached back to the strings that laced up her dress, giving them a tug and letting them loosen. "Alright! As long as you won't let me drowned!" There was no shame nor nervousness in Xaundellyn's eyes as she shed her dress, shoes and stockings. This man was to be her husband and she reasoned that eventually he would be seeing her in a lot less than corset and bloomers. And bloomers are really just like childrens shorts, though thinner and frilly. She pointed at the water, "Let us commence!"

Maverick smiled and said "I have no intention of letting you drown my dear." He chuckled to himself slightly, amused at how quickly she undressed herself before he himself removed his clothing. He climbed up into a tree overloaking the water and dove in. "You can walk in slowly, or jump in. Whichever you think is better for you." He waited patiently for her to come into the water treading in place.

Walking to the edge of the water, Xaundellyn hesitantly put the tip of her toe into the water and then, seeing it wasn't very cold talked in until the water came up to her hip. She held her arms out at her sides, palms resting on the surface. "Alright, dearest. What do I do know?"

Maverick swam over to her and scooped her up into his arms slowly gliding back to a spot where the water came up just below his shoulders "Now, just relax" He smiled as he lowered his arms just below her creating the illusion that he had let go. "Move your arms back and forth in rythm and you'll float, when your ready lower your legs and do the same but don't touch the ground and you'll begin to treat water."

“…Prince.”

A decidedly unimpressed blonde guard stood at the edge where the forest met the clearing that the river ran through. It hadn’t taken her too long to get on their track, but she’d wanted to be quiet to avoid alerting possible danger in the woods that the prince and princess were off on their own. Her hand was on the hilt of one of her short swords, and for a moment she thought wistfully about taking it out and smacking the Prince with the flat of it so that he would learn to respect the fact that his guards needed to know where he was.

It was one of her more common daydreams, usually kept in reserve for whenever guards came to her, looking contrite and asking for her help in finding the Prince.

Her eyes swept quickly over the scene, and the frustrated look on her face suddenly underwent multiple lightning-quick changes. Surprise. Embarrassment. Amusement. Finally she seemed to settle on exhausted resignation. “If you and the lady would kindly get dressed again, I believe your father would like to have a word with both you and the Princess.”

Glancing briefly at the Princess, she added politely, “If the lady would like to learn to swim, Prince,” because it was obvious that that was what she was learning, “there are proper teachers for such things.” She’d learned to swim young, as many of the guards had—there were advantages to knowing any kind of terrain, as well as learning to fight in a situation where you might be without armor and weapons. Though she assumed the Prince would be a good teacher, she didn’t think it was…well, quite proper for him to be teaching his wife-to-be, at least not right at the moment.

She gasped when he lifted her, but Xaundellyn nodded and began to wave her arms back and forth. She found a comfortable rhythm and was about to laugh when a voice reached her ears. A voice that sounded none-to-happy. She froze, sinking instantly into the water. Bobbing back to the surface, the Princess sputtered water and laughed nervously. "He wants to- see us?" Wiping water from her face, she clung to Maverick, afraid she wouldn't be able to reach the bottom seeing as it came up to his shoulders and she was a bit shorter than he.

Maverick smiled at her as she began to swim all by herself then blinked in shock when she sank, bobbed back up and clung to him in a matter of seconds. Not because of her actions but because of the voice that just rang out to him. He smirked and said "Dearest guard, you may be right, there are plenty of proper teachers. But none are as fun as me." He stuck his tongue out at Atahlea before splashing water in her direction. "As for my father..I'm sure he can wait a little bit more. I mean I can probablly have the conversation he wants to have with me, by myself." He never much cared for the boring political speeches his father would give to him. Some might think him a street rat by his attitude, he was not traditional royalty by any means.

Atahlea’s eyes narrowed still further, if it were possible, at Maverick’s response. “Prince.” There was an order in the word, polite but absolutely unmistakable—the prince knew her well enough to know (hopefully) that he was testing her patience to its very limits, and he was already in deep, deep trouble with his guard. “If the princess would like to learn, there is a time and a place for it. That time is not right now.”

Turning towards the princess and making a sort of apologetic bow of the head, she said politely, “He would, your highness. If you would be so kind as to come out of the water now, I will escort you and the prince back to the castle.”

She was going to kill him. As soon as she got him back to the palace she was going to take him into the training yards and beat him senseless. What did he think he was doing undermining his father’s authority like that in front of a foreign princess? If the princess wanted, she could have her family end the peace treaty and start a war with nothing more to go on than this.
