Amaya took the picture, smiling as she looked at it. "It never ceases to amaze me how weird they look in the beginning." She laughed lightly. Hearing about the ultrasounds, she sighed but nodded. "Of course they do."

"At least you don't have much in the way of scheduling issues. I'm sure you can find the time to take a break from writing for the baby." Adrian said moving to hold her hand again. "And I guess it's a little too soon to start thinking up names, huh?" he said with a sheepish chuckle.

"No. Not like I can't take a day off writing. Especially since the new book is about raising mutate kids." Amaya said, squeezing his hand a bit has he took hold of her hand. "Not necessarily. But just so you know, I like Falon for a girl." She said with a grin, kissing his cheek.

"Duly noted. I'll have to start brainstorming boys' names then in case it's a boy." Adrian said before kissing her back. "So are going to turn your two books into four now that you'll have another mutate kid to raise?"

"I could..." Amaya muttered as she thought on it. "If it turns out to be a mutate or not, I at least have a few books to write anyway." She sighed, now seeing the books pile up in her mind.

"Of course there's no harm in not writing about living the mutate life." Adrian noted. "And that might be something to ask the doctors later on; if they can figure out whether it'll be normal or not."

"I don't even understand what you just said." Amaya muttered. "And as far as I know, there's still no test besides a horrifying experience triggering them early like for Calista, or just waiting until they hit adolescence and letting the hormones do the job." She said, looking down at Calista, who was still talking to her stomach.

"Well hopefully there won't be any horrifying experiences for them to have in the former case. Not much we can do about the latter." Adrian said as he looked back at Calista and smiled before looking back at Amaya. "I think we should get going. You'll heal that much faster without us disturbing your rest." he said as he stood up from his chair.

"Hopefully..." Amaya sighed in agreement. Grabbing Adrian's arm before he got away from her, Amaya pulled Adrian back down, kissing him deeply before she let him go. "I love you." She murmured with a smile, giving Calista one more hug before the little girl hopped off the bed.

"I love you too." Adrian said once their lips parted. "Try not to lose too much of the hospital food." he joked with a smile as he waved farewell, leaving the room with Calista hand in hand.

((How far should we skip? There's a point when we'll have to write a sequel to this. And I've let a friend know in case he wants to join the sequel. He's also a college student and we roleplayed together for years. 3nodding Anywho, how far should we skip?))

((Haha well it would be a ten yearish sequel really switching over to the new generation of mutates and what happens with them. It would give you an opportunity to design a whole new character. Or something lol.))
Six months passed for the small family. After a month, Amaya had fully recovered from the attack and went back to writing and answering emails and being a mom. The police interviewed her about the attack, and alerts were put out about Sloan, but in the last six months, nothing had turned up about him. The media announcement about her pregnancy went about as well as expected, paparazzi started following her whenever she went out in public, though for the times she walked Calista to and from school, she was thankful for the large group of witnesses nearby. By now things had slowed down though as she was getting closer to the due date, answering less emails and doing less writing as she tried to get the apartment ready.
Calista had gone back to school after taking a week off after her mother was attacked. She'd had fun helping her parents get the apartment ready and go out shopping to get things for the baby and decorate its room in the last few months. She was excited when she was allowed to tell the other kids at school. Lately Calista had been making more friends and coming out of her shell a little more, though she still seemed to enjoy mutates a bit more than regular people.
It was the middle of the night when Amaya woke up, grumbling as she felt a kick in her side. "You're supposed to be asleep." She muttered as she rubbed her swollen stomach, sitting up in bed as she tried to coax the baby back to sleep instead of kicking her.

"Certainly going to be an energetic baby, isn't it?" Adrian muttered with a yawn, having been woken up when he felt the bed shift as Amaya sat up.

"Going to be a screaming all night and keeping me up baby." Amaya yawned, still rubbing her stomach. "Please, I want a few nights of peace. Please go back to sleep." She begged the baby, that responded with another sharp kick.
((Lol Adrian did nothing the last 6 months?))
