"Fine, whatever." Kai said with a shrug before heading back downstairs. "Dad that was awesome! I watched the whole thing from upstairs and everything!" Kai said with a grin as he gushed over his amazing parents.

After Kai left, Larai began to plot her little escape - and what she might have to do to help that poor man.
Mala didn't know whether to be proud of how impressed her son was, or to be ashamed. Especially since she was afraid that he might try to imitate the feat. "Honey, I'm glad you are impressed and all, but I don't want you trying anything like that."

"Ha! I bet I could take a guy like that in no time at all!" Kai said throwing a few cocky jabs to there.
"I'm sure you could, just as soon you grow to the point where you can't be stopped or picked up with one hand." Van said with a chuckle as he bent down and wrapped one arm around Kai's body and picked him up under one arm. "Wait until you can actually hold a sword and then you can go demon slaying." he joked while Kai flailed about to be put down.

Mala laughed at the boys' antics. "Just remember to always listen to your father during training and that fighting should never be your plan A in any situation and you'll do fine."

"But aren't you guys the ones that attacked him first?" Kai said flatly, giving up on the flailing now.

"You haven't dealt with him before. We offered him a chance to leave and instead he threatened us. It was the only choice." Mala told Kai, keeping a stern look now.

"Tell that to Larai, she got all weepy that you hurt an innocent creature or some such nonsense." Kai said rolling his eyes as Van finally set him down.

Mala looked over at Van, unsure of how to handle the situation herself. She hoped that Van would know what to do.

"Iiiiii'm pretty sure you get this one." Van said looking at Mala, equally unsure. "Think of it as the trade-off of me dealing with our rowdy son."

Mala sighed deeply. "Fine. But you have no idea how hard it is to make her calm down once she starts crying. It's probably just as hard as keeping Kai from blowing the house up." she complained before going up to talk to Larai.

"I'm not that bad!" Kai protested. "Am I?"
"Sometimes." Van replied with a chuckle. "Come on, why don't we walk around town while we let your sister cool off." he said taking Kai's hand as they walked off for a little boys' day out.

Mala went up into the room to talk to a now crying Larai. It took much effort to coax her into coming out from under the bed. After hearing her daughter out, Mala couldn't help but find her innocent view on the matter to be so adorable. Still, Mala had to try her best to convince Larai that it was a necessary course of action. So far, Mala was making little to no progress.

"Wooooooah, who lives there, dad?" Kai asked, stopping to point up at Jaquel's extravagant mansion.
"That would be the home of Jaquel and his wife. Jaq's a recent friend of sorts, I'm sure you'll get to meet him at some point." Van said with a small smile. While he and Jaquel were close to the level of drinking buddies (though Jaq was a little too high class for that) he doubted Ariae was willing to be quite so friendly with him. But there was still that parental urge to show off his kids to almost everyone he knew.

Eventually, Mala agreed to leave Larai be and let her sleep things over. Mala went downstairs and sat herself on the couch once more and started reading once more.
At this point, Larai was hugging her pillow close and planning her escape tonite. Of course, with her mother awake and alert, she couldn't do it now.

"No, you can't have the toy train. At least not until Christmas." Van said eventually pulling Kai away from the toy store they passed. "Time to head home anyway. I'm amazed you haven't pestered me to give you a piggy back ride by now." Van said with a slight chuckle as they returned home.
((I should probably head to bed within a half hour. I'm jumping on a plane tomorrow for my week of family and less internet time. xD ))
