The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn's eyes flickered to Ashriel, then away. "Count the hospital trips, Ashriel. And every single one has been my fault." He said quietly. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel frowned, a tear coming from her eyes. "None of them have been your fault. If I remember correctly, the first was due to me bonking my head - not your fault. The next I was bitten by a wolf, and you kept it from being worse that it was - definitely not your fault. And finally, this time...you may have saved my life when I got flung. So none of it is your fault." It was obvious that she herself was becoming upset that he blamed himself.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn sighed, running a hand through his hair. "None of this would be happening if I was here." He didn't meet Ashriel's eyes as he spoke. "Maybe I was right before. Maybe you would be better if I wasn't here." He admitted quietly. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at Raevyn. "No." She said firmly. Tears were starting to trickle down her cheeks. "If you weren't here, I wouldn't have my apartment. If you weren't here, I would have gotten run over by one of those cars. If you weren't here...I would probably be dead by now." She said, her voice broken now as she spoke.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn glanced at Ashriel as if surprised to find her crying. He pulled her onto his lap, cradling her close and rocking her gently. "Don't cry." He murmured softly, wiping away the tears on her cheeks. "Shh. If you really want me here, I won't go anywhere. Shh. Just don't cry." He wasn't even sure he could leave Ashriel. He'd tried once before and that had been harder. Now, it would be even harder - Especially after seeing how she'd reacted last time. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel curled in close to Raevyn, her breathing slow. The tears didn't completely stop, but they did slow. Her eyes had closed just as he had pulled her onto his lap; somewhere in her consciousness she was glad for his proximity. Across from them, Jennalin was staring in awe while Lucian appeared to be puzzling over something or another. Ash hiccuped once, holding him close.
Jennalin thought for a moment before speaking fairly quietly. "She's...crying. In front of him. She is actually letting herself cry in front of someone. It...I've never seen her do something like that." Lucian appeared to be trying to work out why she was willing to cry in front of Raevyn.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn glanced at Lucien and Jennalin in confusion. "She's cried several times that I've seen." He informed them, sounding baffled at their confusion. He didn't understand what a big deal it was. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin rose her eyebrows at Raevyn. "She's never let me or Lix see her cry before." She said simply, quietly. Honestly, she didn't care for Ashriel to hear her statement - Ash might get self-conscious.
Ashriel settled, her eyes still shut. What was it about crying that when she settled she was instantly asleep? Perhaps it just wore her out that much. It wasn't that she was originally tired, no, that couldn't be it.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn blinked in surprise. "Really?" He asked in surprise. Absentmindedly, he ran his hand through Ashriel's long hair. He was relieved to feel her relaxing, the tears drying up. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin nodded at Raevyn in response. As she was a terrible liar, it was obvious that she was telling the truth. Ash, who was now asleep in Raevyn's arms, had never allowed herself to cry in front of Lix or Jen. "Even when she got hurt."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "How odd." Raevyn murmured softly, turning the thought over in his mind. What made him so different, he wondered. He was jerked out of his thoughts by the nurse's voice calling Ashriel's name. Standing up, he carried her and followed the nurse to a room. "Ash. Wake up. Doctor will be here soon." He murmured, shaking her shoulder lightly. If she didn't respond, he would resort to the tried and true method - tell her food was ready. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel remained curled up to Raevyn, although her voice rang out softly. "I don't wanna see the doctor. He's too mean..." She had stirred just enough that both of the cats would be able to make it out, Jennalin and Lucian having followed into the room.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn shook her shoulder again, pleased that he'd gotten at least some response from her. "Too bad. Wake up. You could have done serious damage to your leg and you need to talk to the doctor about it." He said firmly. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel still didn't wake. "No doctor..." Lucian looked inquisitively between Jennalin and Raevyn for a couple of moments, Jennalin deciding to finally say something.
"If you talk to this nice doctor that is coming, I'll buy you a cookie afterward."
Ashriel's eyes snapped open, and she looked at Jennalin. "After what?"

Raevyn gave Jennalin a half-glare, as if to say he'd been going to do that. "Doctor time." He told Ashriel briskly, mildly annoyed.
((You want doctor this time?))
