"Kai, Larai, we're coming in." Mala said calmly, knocking on the door before she entered. Seeing some of the blankets poking out from underneath the bed, she immediately knew where Larai was. "Larai? Do you think you could come out and talk to us for a minute?"

"Of course, it doesn't really matter whether we can see you or not, since we know you're listening." Van said as he sat down on the floor by the bed Larai was hiding under.

"So..uh..." Mala blanked out, unable to think of what to say now. She looked to Van for help.

"I know you thought you were doing the right thing, but you just can't help people like that." Van said. "They'll only take advantage of you and someone could wind up hurt in the end. "Kai or your mother could have been in serious trouble if none of us had any sort of powers."

{s**t, wrong post! >.< I forgot to copy for the copypasta.}
"I'm sorry. I should've have trusted him, thinking he'd be nice if I were nice." Larai muttured softly, poking her head out of the blankets now. "Instead, I shouldn't help anyone, should I? I shouldn't be nice unless I know they're nice first."

((Lolz. XD ))
"Well, there's that, but just use your common sense next time. If they don't seem like a good person then you shouldn't help them. It's good to help people, just not everyone deserves it." Van said putting a comforting hand on the head that poked out from the blankets.

{Sorry for that, lol.}
"But don't you two always say that people deserve a seccond chance?" Larai asked in confusion.
"He's been given dozens and dozens of seccond chances, sweetie. He was just too dumb to take any of them." Mala told Larai, frowning slightly.

"More like a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth chance. There's only so many times you can give someone a chance at redemption." Van said.

"Exactly. Why do you think I still haven't patched things up with grandma?" Mala said flatly, knowing all too well how true Van's words were.
Larai hesitantly crawled out and looked at both of her parents with teary eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll take whatever punishment you see fit without complaint."

Van just blinked a few times. So much for the parenting coming naturally. "Look, you've been through a lot so we'll give you your punishment later once you've calmed down more, okay?" he said looking back down at Larai.

Larai nodded, smiling weakly up at her mother and father. "Mmkay. I love you both."
"We love you too, sweetie." Mala said, offering Larai a warm motherly smile before Larai crawled right back under the bed.
