The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Uh, Ashriel? She's staring at me. Not staring really, but I swear she's watching me......Not the bubbly one. The quiet one." Raevyn told her, trying to sound nonchalant but he was starting to get a tad nervous. Mama would kill him if he let another human know.
"You'd better." Lix said with a nod, though she suspected that Ashriel wouldn't. Very well. She would just have to keep an eye on her friend. "Supper sounds great though. Do you want some help with whatever it is?" She offered. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Jen? What is your 'read' on this apartment anyway?" Ashriel asked, and Raevyn was no longer in Jennalin's glance.
"It's normal...although that cat's waves are funny." Jennalin said calmly, walking toward Ashriel's 'kitchen'.
"You think everyone's waves are funny at first."
"True." Jennalin ignored Raevyn for now, though there was no telling how long that would last.
Ashriel looked at Lixini, laughing gently. "It's just gonna be spaghetti with herbs." She glanced at Raevyn for a moment, as if to say 'you'd better like it'.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... The fur along Raevyn's back began to stand up before he forced himself to calm down. "Please don't tell me she's gifted. Seriously. That could be bad." He brightened up at the mention of supper though. "Oh, that sounds good. Make sure I get some." He said cheerfully as the girls entered the kitchen.
"I love spaghetti!" Lix chirped happily, following Ashriel into the kitchen. "Do you need any help getting it ready?" She asked, leaning against the table. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel nodded, looking straight at Raevyn. He would get what she meant. Jennalin was a psychic- though she often made mistakes while using her gift. "Lix, can you get the water started? The pots are in that cupboard next to the stove." She said calmly, before searching for the noodles. "By the way, I like to feed my cat the same stuff I eat- he seems to like it better." Jennalin just shrugged in response, ignoring what she thought were 'strange waves' coming from the cat.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lix nodded and bounced over the cupboard, humming to herself as she grabbed one and filled it with water. "So what's the cat's name? Just 'Kitty'?" She asked curiously as she worked.
Raevyn groaned in his mind, rolling onto his back, one paw over his face. "We are so screwed. Gifted humans can sometimes tell that we aren't human." He sighed and rolled back to his paws, rising and sliding off the couch. He trotted into the kitchen and made a series of jumped - floor to chair seat to table to counter and finishing on top of the fridge, looking down on everyone. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel thought carefully. Raevyn was too...odd a name for a cat. "Ray." She answered Lixini, rolling her eyes as Raevyn jumped up on the refrigerator. What would make her life easier right now would be if he could read her mind as well. She continued to go through her cupboards as Jennalin spoke.
"Ray. Nice name...for a cat, that is." Jennalin looked up at Raevyn for a moment, trying to see if he would make eye contact with her. Okay, she was pushing everything, but his 'waves' were bothering her.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Close enough." Raevyn muttered as Ashriel told them his 'name'. He wished he could read minds right now. He desperately wanted to know what Jen was thinking. And while some of his kind could, he wasn't one. His was strictly a one-way telepathy. He caught the girl looking at him. Locking eyes with her for a moment, he looked away instantly, his fur bristling slightly. There was something very wrong with the way that girl kept looking at him. He inched farther back on top of the refrigerator until only his ears and eyes could be seen - Eyes that roved, refusing the meet Jen's eyes again. He was going to have to be very careful for awhile. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"That cat..." Jennalin muttered, looking away from him now. She didn't say anything else; it was obvious that she was musing something. The psychic moved to sit at the table, watching as Ashriel pulled out the pasta.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Crap! Crap, crap, crap!" Raevyn's voice was starting to sound nervous. "Ashriel! Distract her or something! She's suspecting something. Oh man, I am soo dead if another human finds me." He began pacing on top of the refrigerator, his tail lashing. The tip of it could be seen occasionally as he paced, his paws making a soft tapping sound.
Lixini looked at Ashriel as she found the pasta. "Perfect timing!" She said with a laugh. "The water just started boiling." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel put enough pasta in for five people before turning around to look at Jennalin. "What are you thinking?"
Jennalin glanced at the cat again, speaking calmly. "I was just thinking that your cat would look really good with a pink bow around its neck." She smiled. --o.o I had to.--

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... (( XD ))
Raevyn froze in his pacing, caught off guard. He certainly hadn't been expecting that! As the words processed through his mind, he peeked over the edge of the fridge, glaring and hissing at Jennalin. As soon as he realized he was acting like he understood her, he retreated out of sight again. His little display made Lixini giggle. "Looks like little Ray-Ray doesn't like that idea." She said, having no idea that she was completely right. "Oh there is no way in hell ANYONE is getting a pink bow on my neck! I don't wear a collar and I refuse to wear pink!" The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel couldn't help but burst out laughing. So Raevyn had been paranoid about nothing. "You know, he would look good in it, but I think Lix is right." She smiled, looking up at Raevyn.
"Hm. Did he understand me? No, he couldn't have. Just a cat..." Jennalin muttered to herself before looking at Ashriel and Lixini. "I suppose you both are right."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn rolled his eyes at Ashriel's laughter. "I am so going to kill the first person who tries to put a bow on me....." He muttered to Ashriel. He returned to simply laying at the edge of the fridge, watching the three girls with his amber eyes. He was careful not to make eye contact with Jennalin. "Stupid females and their stupid ideas.....This is why I like cats. Would a she-cat want a bow? No. Would she expect a tom to wear a bow? Hell no." He continued to rant in a voice only Ashriel could hear. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel turned her attention to the spaghetti for the next few minutes, smiling when it was done. She got out four bowls, piling two with equal servings, one with a half serving, and one with a double serving. The other half serving sat in the pot, just in case Raevyn wanted more. She sprinkled the herb mix in each, setting the half serving bowl on the floor for Raevyn. Taking the double serving bowl for herself, she sat at the table.
Jennalin took one of the regular serving bowls, shaking her head at Ashriel's appetite. "I swear, the way you eat, someone could mistake you for a full grown male."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn slithered down to the counter before hopping to the floor. He dragged his bowl of food over to the corner where he crouched with his back to the wall, watching everybody. He began to eat, never taking his eyes off the girls.
Lixini gave a small cheer as she realized the food was done. She grabbed her bowl and bounced to the table, plopping into one of the chairs. "Hey, she's a growing girl. I think. Are you still growing?" She asked, realizing her friend might have stopped growing. Lix didn't always pay attention to details. The tiger that should be....isn't....
