This passage in the essay seems randomly placed... and I don't like that Momaday doesn't explain more about where it came from, or how it relates to previous or later statements.
Most is your name the name of this dark stone. Deranged in death, the mind to be inheres Forever in the nominal unknown, Who listens here and now to hear your name. The early sun, red as a hunter's moon, Runs in the plain. The mountain burns and shines; And silence is the long approach of noon Upon the shadow that your name defines - And death this cold, black density of stone.
Is this passage talking about the ruin of the old school that his grandmother once went to? Or is it a discussion about a burial site, a grave?

I like this statement of Momaday's: "We have become disoriented, I believe; we have suffered a kind of psychic dislocation of ourselves in time and space" (86).
Sidenote: The previous passage was on page 85.

Celestial objects seem to be a common, beloved item for the Kiowa people and their culture. There's constant mentions of the Sun ((i.e. the Sun Dance)) and stars ((especially the "falling stars")).

I really like this statement. Sounds like something I would say/think.
"If there is any absolute assumption in back of my thoughts tonight, it is this: We are what we imagine. Our very existence consists in our imagination of ourselves. Our best destiny is to imagine, at least, completely, who and what, and that we are. The greatest tragedy that can befall us is to go unimagined." (87)

((Tangent: Whoa... that's a different version of Shakira's Hips Don't Lie. I can't see the entire song title, but I see it has Bamboo in it. It's from a World Cup album, it looks like.))

Okay. I'm done with the essay.
Now to start reading the novel. Though I should first start writing my CR, before I got beyond the page that my comments are on. 3nodding So I'll take care of that first.

*watches a spider crawl up the wall*
Darn you spider! You're a quick one. By the time I would've gotten anything to kill you, you would've already been too high for me to reach.
It's already almost to the top of the wall by now. *sighs*

*looks back up at the wall after writing some more of her CR*
I don't know where the spider is. Oh well.

Wow... I already almost wrote about a page with just talking about the essay. xd Hope my teacher doesn't mind that I will end up writing more than page for my CR. Especially when I don't think there's a way for me to shorten the thoughts I wrote out about it.
