Ashriel shrugged. "I don't know, I haven't measured since I moved in." She said casually, taking a bite of the spaghetti.
"Hm. Of course you are still growing, you are too short to have stopped." Jennalin stated, as if it were common sense.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lixini raised an eyebrow at her friend's logic, then shrugged. "If you say so." She said simply, eating her food. "Mmh! You're a really good cook, Ash!" She told the girl happily. "Surprisingly enough, she's right." Raevyn piped up from his corner. "It's actually quiet good." He finished his portion and began dragging the bowl to the sink, like he normally would. He paused halfway there, remembering he was supposed to be normal. Leaving the bowl where it was, he hopped up to the table and sat there. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin's eyebrows raised as she saw Raevyn scooting his bowl towards the sink. As he suddenly gave up and jumped on the table, she found herself staring at him again. Looking at him, she whispered at a level only he would hear. "Are you another one of them?" After that, she looked back up at Ashriel. "Yup, it is really good."
Ashriel blushed. "Thanks." She said softly, still eating her food. --...--

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn turned his head to glance at Jennalin, forcing himself to mew as if he had no idea what she'd said. In reality though, his blood had started to run cold. "Oh god. Oh god. What did I do to deserve this?" He wailed to himself, not realizing his thoughts were loud enough for Ashriel to hear. He was startled out of his thoughts though by a hand on his head. He instantly began purring, making Lixini giggle as she pet him. She stroke down his back as he purred. He hissed at her suddenly as her hand touched his sore leg. He raised one paw threateningly, making Lix pull back, scowling. "Bad kitty!" The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at Raevyn, slightly startled. She had absolutely no clue what was going on.
"Don't worry- my brother was one. A were-cat, right?" Jennalin said softly, making sure that he still was the only one who could hear.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn jumped at Jen's words. He spun to look at her, amber eyes wide in surprise. "What?!" He asked her before he could ask himself. He sniffed at her. He was sure she wasn't a were. So how could her brother have been one? The tiger that should be....isn't....

"I'm adopted." She whispered to him softly, grinning still. Jennalin had wondered the first time her brother had gotten hurt and changed- and it wasn't like they could hide it from her, back then. After all, a child's imagination can get the best of them.
"Hey, Lix, you want to help me with something? I'm having trouble with figuring out this science problem." Okay, so there was one subject Ashriel sucked at, and that was science. Of course, it made for a good excuse to get Lixini distracted, since she was a science genius.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn just stared at Jen. "Um, Ashriel? Did you uh, know she's adopted? And that her 'brother' is a were-cat? Cause if you did, a little warning might have been nice!!" He sighed, flicking his tail. He directed his thoughts away from Ashriel and back to Jennalin. "Well that solves one problem. I'm going to guess that someone else is accounting for your actions, so I don't have to."" Among the were-families, it was a general rule that if a human found out - and wasn't killed, for one reason or another - than they had a sponsor of sorts, a were that basically made sure they didn't reveal them to more humans. "What's your brother's name?" He asked, curious. Were-cats were one of the few types that lived solitary more often than not. It was rare to find an entire family of were-cats. The few that did exist were often well known because of their oddness.
"Sure!" Lixini chirped, pushing aside her mostly empty plate. She didn't notice Raevyn's odd behavior with Jennalin, her normal airheadedness combined with Ashriel's distraction. She scooted her chair closer to the other girl. "What problem is it?" The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel got out her Biology II textbook, showing Lixini two problems. "I know the first, but not the second." Really, she was solving two problems at once. She was both answering Raevyn and showing Lixini what she did actually need help with.
"Lucian." Jennalin said simply, grinning. Lucian, her 'older brother', was four years older than them.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn, calming down significantly, curled his tail around his paws. His fur was lying flat and his eyes had half-closed again, their normal, lazy state. "Huh. I know OF him, but I can't say I personally know him. Toms generally steer clear of each other. We all get sort of our own little territories. Especially those of the wilder breeds." He said easily, his voice not nearly so strained sounding.
Lixini looked over the problem quickly, then flashed Ashriel a grin. "Oh this is easy!" She said playfully, though that was obvious. There wasn't much about science that WASN'T easy to her. Despite seeming like an airhead most of the time, Lix was actually rather smart when she wanted to be. "See, all you have to do is this....." She said, explaining the problem, breaking it down into simpler concepts. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Okay, that makes a lot more sense." Ashriel smiled at Lixini, laughing gently. "Hey, Jen, I need to pick up some supplies...Lix, you want to come with?" She offered, grinning at her friend. To the two speaking at the table, it would be obvious that Ashriel was getting Lixini out of the way so that they could finish their 'convo'.
"Lix, maybe you can convince her to take something you buy for her. I don't care to go to the store- I'll stay and watch the cat." Jennalin grinned, nodding at Lixini.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lixini bounced out of her chair, completely missing the grateful look Raevyn shot Ashriel. It was getting weird for him with one person out of the loop. Lix just grinned at Ashriel, then grabbed her arm, practically towing her away. "C'mon! Let's get going. Oh! We should stop and grab a treat somewhere. Sugar!" Lixini took any chance she could for sugar. She usually wasn't allowed it, seeing as she was on an almost-permanent sugar-high. When she did get sugar......It was scary.
Raevyn sighed as the girl's left. "She's exhausting me and I've only just met her." He said wryly. "I don't know how anyone could handle living with her. Her house must be crazy." The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Okay, I can't really stop you..." Ashriel said, walking Lixini out the door. They hurried towards the store as Jennalin sighed lightly.
"Yeah, and she isn't even the worst of her family, by that standpoint. Imagine her, only five years younger." Jennalin grinned, before going back to the actual subject. "So, let me guess. Ash found you injured, and, although she was dead broke, she decided to take you in anyway and help you heal. And you failed at even attempting to hide that you were different." She summarized quickly, easily hitting the mark.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn sighed and nodded. "I'm not used to hiding who I am when I'm in cat form. I live at Sanctuary, where everyone knows so I don't have to bother." He said, flicking his tail in a shrug. "But yes, Ashriel found me. And if not for her, I would have died. Simple as that. My injuries were bad enough that I'm still healing. Almost done, but still....." That was enough said about his injuries, if the girl knew anything about the Were's. With their healing rate, injuries rarely lasted this long. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin smiled brightly. "Typical Ash. You should be glad Ashriel is who she is. Most others would just pass by and not even care. They'd probably assume you to be a filthy stray if you were that bad." She said softly, thinking. "Hm. Well, since I know what you are, I might as well tell you about myself. I'm a psychic...though I pretty much suck at controlling it."
