((OOC: Hah. whee Childish vengeance here we come.))
Marcelius didn't even have to look around to know who had spoken, and permitted himself the slightest of sighs. He didn't quite roll his eyes, although he would have liked to.
Iliara. How childish of you.
He did try to keep in mind that she was young, and his cool (humans would most certainly have said 'heartless') desertion of her such a short time ago might have affected her more than he had realized. But still, to bid on a slave she most likely didn't even want just to irritate him...did she think Ciar wouldn't hold her to it?
Musingly, he toyed with the idea of not speaking again. Let her get stuck with the slave, and then he'd choose another once she had left in a huff. Then he considered the slave.
Well, if it came down to it, he could always choose another. But this one would probably be the easiest to study, being 'fairly passive' and all.
Calmly, letting just a hint of his amusement show in his voice, (we all know your game Iliara. How pathetic of you) he responded patiently, "Two hundred twenty."

[ 8D whooo ~ . ]
The bid, which Ciar had never expected to rise farther than one ninty, had reached a nice little sum of two hundred and twenty. It was difficult to please the slave trader, his greedy nature wishing every bid higher than whatever was necessary, sometimes bidding himself, and purposely losing, even though that was always risky. He didn`t want to be left with an unnecessary " attachment " , even if they were quickly disposed of. Ciar glanced over at the opposing Keshval, clearly female, and somewhat young, her hand remaining definantly in the air. Whether or not she wanted the slave was hardly his concern. She had bid, and if she bid again, the thing would be hers to do with as she pleased. " Go - " " Two hundred and fifty. " Ciar made a little annoyed sound under his breath at being cut off, but withdrew his statement. He was still in business.

Marcelius didn't even blink. He'd gone higher than this before. Now, granted, it was a pain to have to do it because Iliara was being ridiculous, but he set himself a limit. If it went too close to three hundred, he was letting her win and choosing another. He was quite comfortable with yielding when he got bored, and allowing others to insist on what they wanted. He could keep the peace.
And oh, would that ever piss her off.
A little smile flickering at the corners of his mouth ever so briefly, he settled back in his chair like a man prepared for a long wait. Silly girl. He wondered if she even had what she was promising. Knowing her, probably not.
Such a silly girl.
If he was a vengeful man, he might take pleasure in considering how he would pay her back for this little escapade, but as earlier noted, Marc could keep the peace. He wasn't the type to lower himself to her level.
So he responded, still patient, still amused, "Two sixty."

Max looked around at the people...she'd given nothing to bid on, how was it that the price was still rising!? Either way, she straightened up, chin high, and no longer the met the eyes of the keshvals.

The price was rising, far more than the slave was worth, in Ciar`s opinion, but he was not complaining, especially since every Keshval knew that one you bought a slave off of Ciar, you were stuck with it. Which was why most of the angels were meticulous when it came to their decisions. And if they were uncertain, they swallowed their bids, for it was impossible to say whether another would bid against them.
When the other bidder heard Marcelius`s reply, Ciar swore that the voice which came out of the depths of the crowd was smirking. " Two seventy five " It said, a clear tone of triumph ringing.

((OOC: Sorry for the delay. Not your fault this time, Carnival. razz But yes, by all means, let's wrap this up since I think the others are probably getting impatient. Also, I realize that I have just stumbled on a reason for Marc to treat Maxy pretty well to start with. >.>))
Marcelius could hear the triumph in Iliara's voice. She didn't really think he would go above that. Briefly, he considered doing just what she expected. Patiently yielding, going with the flow, just as he usually did. But more than likely, that was what had gotten him into this situation in the first place - this and Iliara's childish behaviour.
Besides, the look on her face (even if he didn't see it) would be perfectly priceless. Marc would pay for it just for that.
But he would certainly have to be more careful with this slave; she was costing him quite a bit. He didn't mind, precisely...it just meant he couldn't be too quick to toss her out.
Poor little Iliara. All she knew of him was his tendency to avoid making waves.
She couldn't know that she'd at last tapped his stubborn streak.
"Two eighty-five," he replied nonchalantly. The faintest flash of a smile appeared when she stared through the crowd at him. She looked shocked. And furious.
He'd probably have to pay for this later, but oh yes, he'd been right.
That look was worth every bit of it.

[ THE AUCTION IS DONE, PEOPLE. so. yeah. 8D. sucky ending post. ]
Well, even if the other bidder was furious with the outcome, Ciar had reaped much more than he`d ever hoped for, on this particular slave, who seemed more than a little hopeless to him. Then again, all of the slaves, those who had been sold, and those who were to find " homes ", were considered so. The female kept her silence, slowly simmering in her temper and the chair beneath her, as she finally yielded to Marcelius`s bid. " Sold. To Marcelius, for two hundred and eighty - five crystals. " He said, although there was really no point in announcing it.
The rest of the auction emptied even the dregs of what had been Ciar`s " harvest ", and the miser himself managed to walk away with pockets that were much much heavier than they`d been before. There was never a limit to how much Ciar was willing to earn, or what he would do to get a neat little bundle of cash. The sold slaves`s cages were left with the keys neatly attached to the top lip of the metal, well beyond the reach of a human being in hand cuffs. The owners were expected to pick their new pets up themselves, by what appeared to be an honor system, yet the keys had been programed to open the cage only when used by the new owners. Ciar had swept off to wherever he usually lurked between collection dates, and usually only his men caught glimpses of the slave trader during those times. Ciar no longer needed to be in the picture, and had thus removed himself, until further notice.

Vaanathos collected Kara-Serina and a couple other slaves he had purchased. One male and another female. He then took them and his aides with him to his ship that would take them back to his luxurious mansion on the planet that is inhabited by the Keshval.
However, his new slaves would surely find out that they would not be receiving anything luxurious in the future.

Zloraiha, smiling a little bit, stepped lightly through the crowd and picked up her key. She paused at the cage, looking down on the little boy.
Hers, now. And it was nice to know that she had won him so easily, but she would still have to be at least mildly careful, she realized reluctantly. There wouldn't be any more slaves around until the next Collection Day, since private trading was a rare and often expensive thing.
But then, if he turned out to be too much more useless than expected, she could always wait for a new one. There was time.
She examined the child with a calm gaze. The chains would remain on until she had escorted him to her home. Then they would deal with that.
"Come, little one," she said quietly, her voice mild and quite melodic. If he got whiny about it, though, her casual demeanour would change real fast.
~
Marcelius managed to skilfully evade Iliara among the crowd. He picked up his key and unlocked the cage of his new slave.
There was a moment of total silence while he calmly sized her up. A bit thin, maybe a little on the fragile side for his kind of experimentation. But she'd come dear, and he wouldn't be too harsh on her.
For a while.
Eventually, he simply crooked his finger. Come.
But he didn't walk away. He seemed to be waiting for her to join him.

Maxy gulped, looking up at him and bit her lip. She thought about sayng something nasty...but that would get her nothing but punishment. She was ashamed to say that she barely hesitated at him motion and strode forward to him. Her legs shook anxiously, but her eyes still held the rebellious spark. She held herself straight and tall and looked him in the eyes. She told herself she could take anything he could dish out.
