Ashriel smiled lightly. She listened to him, closing her eyes as she held him close to her. "I love you too." Her lips moved in a whisper, tired from the hormones and from the crying. Slowly, she was falling prey to sleep - again.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn smiled and purred, letting Ashriel fall asleep. Once he was sure she was asleep, he slipped out of her arms and to the floor. He padded to the bedroom, shifting to human and opening the door carefully. "Jennalin?" He called softly, peeking his head in. "How are you doing?" The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin glanced at him, frowning. "She's clueless...absolutely clueless." She muttered, looking out the window and ignoring him. Her fingers worked their way through her hair. "Fine. I'm decent, I suppose. I just...feel bad that Ash is part of all of this. I really want to try to do something special for her birthday, just because of it." Her eyes were now directed down.
For eight years, she'd managed to keep that world a secret from Ashriel. And then, Ashriel has to stumble into the one cat that would let her figure the entire mess out. She'd hidden injury after injury, made lie after lie, for her best friend's well being.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn sighed and entered the room, closing the door behind him and leaning back against it. "I know." He whispered. He knew Ashriel was clueless. And he had originally intended it to stay like that. He sighed, leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling. "It wasn't supposed to be like this. I was supposed to either die on the street or, after she brought me home, get better and leave with no one the wise. She wasn't supposed to learn any of this." He sounded sorry for having done this, for ruining Ashriel's life. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin looked at Raevyn quietly. "Well, she did. And there isn't any changing that. Though, I do know that she is all the better now. She hides so much...and she never thinks about the fact that I can read minds." She said, almost silently. She stood, going over to look Raevyn in the eyes. "Just...watch what you say. How much she finds out. If she finds out half the things she's missed over the years...well...problems. It is already bad enough that they can connect Luke to me, then me to her. If they knew they could be directly connected..." She muttered, trailing off as she turned around, her blue eyes turning to an icy color.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn dragged his gaze back down from the ceiling to look at Jennalin. "I know." He said quietly. He sighed, running a hand through his short hair. "Truth be told, I don't want her to know. My world......Is not kind. Jungle law is master. Survival of the fittest in a dog eat dog world." He told her softly. "She doesn't belong in it. She's been hurt too much already." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin turned to look at him again, her icy blue eyes looking him over. "I know what the world is like. You don't think I remember my own life? My family had to be so careful. Luke wouldn't tell me what he was doing as a job, or where he was living, in attempt to disconnect me from that world." Her fingers felt their way through her hair. "But once you're in, you can't get out...I should know that, by now." She thought for a few moments. Her eyes settled back to their normal, deep blue color. "She's stronger than you think." She answered him now, sitting down.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "I don't want to test how strong though." Raevyn said seriously. Then he shook his head and sighed. "It doesn't really matter. What's done is done. We have to focus on what's happening now. Which includes your eyes. What was up with that?" He asked, looking at her in confusion. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin listened carefully, thinking. She looked at him, confused, when he asked his question. "My eyes? What about my eyes?" She questioned back, obviously having no idea about anything that her eyes had just done.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn raised an eyebrow. "You don't know?" He asked, realizing she didn't know about her eyes. He gestured to his own eyes. "Your eyes. They went all really pale. Kinda freaky actually. Or it would be if freaky didn't define my world." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin looked at him curiously. "That is...odd." She thought carefully as she stood there. "I don't know of it happening before. Well, it might have, but no one has told me."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn shrugged lightly. "I have no idea. All I know is what I saw. And I saw your eyes go really pale. Like ice." He told her bluntly. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin shrugged. "I'll have to look into that; I've never heard of anything like it." She told Raevyn quietly, her eyes moving to focus on him. "I wish I knew what Ash would have seen - that might have given us a clue." She said softly, turning about. "Which reminds me...I need to apologize to her, even if she isn't awake when I do it. If you'll just excuse me..." She moved to try and go past Raevyn.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn reached out to grab her shoulder as she tried to go past. "If you wake her, I will be very displeased. I only just got her calmed down enough to eat and sleep." He told her warningly. As much as he liked Jen, he was protective about Ashriel and her health. The tiger that should be....isn't....
