 The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... ((The Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, more specifically the books that involve the Were-Hunters. Very good series, for all the fact that they are very much an adult series.))
Raevyn cradled Ashriel close, hugging her. "I'm sorry. I should never have let you get into this mess." He murmured apologetically. "My world is literally dog eat dog. It's not place for such a sweet girl." He kissed her forehead briefly.  The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at him, and she shook her head. "You really need to stop apologizing. You do realize that, if you hadn't, I would have eventually figured it out, between Jen and Luke." She told him, staying close to him. She was pretty sure she would have eventually noticed, had she ever taken note of what the glows meant.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn smiled slightly. "Maybe. Maybe not. As a general rule, Were's are really good at hiding. After all, there's thousands of us and you only just learned." He pointed out softly. "Sanctuary has been running for something like a hundred years now and no one has figured out anything." Well, that wasn't strictly true. Just that no one who found out anything was in any shape to be talking. Were's could get hyper-protective, especially of their mates or cubs. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel nodded quietly. "I guess you are right." She answered simply, her eyes looking at his. She leaned up to him and kissed him lightly.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn chuckled quietly. He was about to say something but found himself distracted by the kiss. He returned the kiss gently, holding Ashriel close. He combed his fingers through her hair. He was careful to be gentle with her, keeping his strength in check. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel was glad to be so close to Raevyn. A part of her was distracted, wishing the fates would be kind to her just once. Just once give her something she wanted. To think about it, the fates had been cruel when it came to her. Ah, well...

Raevyn slowly broke the kiss, though he didn't let Ashriel move away. He kept one arm around her waist to hold her close. His free hand continued to stroke her hair. He pulled a lock of her blonde hair to his face, inhaling her sweet scent. "You have the sweetest scent I know of." He murmured to her. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel didn't mind being so close to him, breathing lightly. She didn't know how to really respond to what Raevyn said, so she found herself just blushing lightly.

Raevyn chuckled, tracing the side of her face lightly. "It's a compliment." He murmured to her lightly. "Were's have a much stronger sense of smell remember? So I can smell your personal scent. Even if you try to cover it up with perfumes. I hate that though." He wrinkled his nose. "Especially the chemical perfumes. They burn." The tiger that should be....isn't....

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "That makes things easy then." Raevyn said with a laugh. "Besides, I don't know why you'd want to cover up such a sweet scent. Most people can't smell it but I can." He buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply.
