[|-|+ biggrin +|-|]
Ashriel smiled at Raevyn sat next to her, nodding quietly. "I guess you're right." She said, leaning her head against his shoulder, waiting for the phone to ring, or for a knock on the door. After a few minutes, a knock came upon the door, unaccompanied. Ashriel sat up, looking curiously at the door.

Raevyn rose to his feet, murmuring for Ashriel to stay put. He padded silently towards the door, sniffing at it lightly before moving to the peephole. While it was roughly about the time Lucian should have been here, Raevyn was taking no chances. He was not about to accidentally open the door to his enemies and invite them in. Had the knock been accompanied by a phone call, he would have just opened it. But without that odd combination, he became wary.

Ashriel nodded quietly, realizing that this was one time where it might be smart to listen to Raevyn. Outside the door, however, was the expected pair. A rather confused Lucian was standing with the plain, stoic Jennalin. Jennalin was stroking her fingers against her brother's neck, her brother shivering before swatting his sister. "Don't do that!" He said roughly, drawn out of his thoughts.

Raevyn raised an eyebrow as he watched the pair briefly. He opened the door and let them in. "What, no phone call too?" He asked teasingly, closing and locking the door behind them. He moved back to sit on the couch again, gesturing for the siblings to grab chairs and bring them in. "Phone and door aside, explain. Now. What the heck is going on?"

Lucian sighed as the door was opened, eying Raevyn in response to the teasing. "Eh, my phone died in the car, and Jen claims that she lost hers." He said smoothly, grabbing a chair for himself and Jen before going into the living room. He set the chairs facing the couch, and he looked at his sister quietly. "As I said before, I am clueless as to what is going on with her. However, if you were to see, it would be an entirely different story. Jen...you should just focus, try to...read Ash's mind or something."

Jennalin rolled her eyes. "I'm not a performing mutt, you know." She snapped smoothly at him, before she concentrated on Ashriel. The first thing to be noticed was that Ashriel jumped slightly where she was seated.

"Her glow changed, right then." Ashriel muttered, looking at her friend, whose eyes were now an icy blue, and she'd acquired icy blue butterfly like wings that spread out about an arms length away from her body. Her ears were slowly growing to a point.

"I'm not able to read her mind." Jennalin commented, frustrated now.

"That's cause Jennalin's not the only one budding powers." Raevyn muttered under his breath. He let that thought go though, looking at Jennalin. He had to admit, she did look like the fairies he'd encountered before. Wanting to be sure, he rose and padded over to her. "Don't hit me for this." He warned her before burying his face in the crook of her neck, sniffing deeply. He wanted a good sniff of her scent, unhampered by anything else. He was trying to see if her scent held the tanginess he'd come to associate with fairies.

((I'm off to bed before I fall asleep at the keyboard. Night!))

Lucian watched Raevyn curiously, noting what he said. However, it would be too confusing to add another conversation at this point in time. Jennalin was startled when Raevyn buried his face in the crook of her neck. He would notice just a slight tanginess to her scent - not strong at all. Ashriel watched him, realizing what he was trying after a couple of seconds.

Raevyn took a deep breath, testing her scent. After a moment, he pulled back, looking at her in confusion. "You have the weirdest scent I have ever known." He told her bluntly. The tang he'd been looking for was there but it was so faint it was no wonder he'd never noticed it before. It was covered by the sweeter scent of humans and muskier scent of cats. He backed up until he could sit on the couch again, still looking at Jennalin in confusion.

Lucian looked at Raevyn curiously, Jennalin still oblivious to whatever was going on. "So, do you agree with my...err...conclusion?" Luke asked, still unsure. He himself hadn't met any fairies - he was too busy hiding himself from that Were gang. His fingers stroked through his hair, leaning back in the chair.

Jennalin was gradually getting annoyed by the talk, now pushing her way into Raevyn's head to try and figure out what the heck the males were even talking about. Ashriel was still eying Jennalin, trying to figure out something that was now bothering her.

Raevyn glanced at Lucian then glared at Jennalin, throwing up a barrier around his mind. "Get out. And don't you dare ever enter my mind without permission." He snarled at her. His mind was a private sanctuary for him, a place to retreat from the world. It was why he never actually entered other people's minds without permission, other than the tiny bit that was needed to communicate. Jennalin dealt with, he turned back to answer her brother. "It's hard to say. She's been around others for so long that she's taken on their scent. If I had to make a final conclusion, I'd say Changling." Changlings were fairy children that had been swapped with other species children, or left for parents to find. "From what I know of them, and I'm mostly guessing here, that would explain the hidden scent and why her powers were suppressed for so long."

Once Jennalin was blocked, she blinked a couple of times, listening intently to what he was saying after that. Ashriel was sitting meekly out of the way, now not wanting to mention what she'd figured out. Lucian sighed, looking at his sister for a moment before looking back to Raevyn. "Hm. Makes sense." He muttered, Jennalin now finally catching onto what the heck was going on.

"Wait - you think I'm a FAIRY? How can I be-" Jen suddenly interjected, Ashriel holding her head. Jennalin had gotten through to Ashriel's head in time that she was practically yelling within it.

Ashriel looked at Jennalin pleadingly. "Stop it, please." She said softly, at which point Jennalin's ears, wings, and eyes went back to normal. Ashriel figured something else out - another thing that she didn't want to interject, not wanting to have to be part of this conversation.

Raevyn winced at the assault on both his ears and his mind. Once Jennalin had left him alone, he'd lowered the barrier around his mind slightly. Enough for the yell to penetrate and hurt. He hissed in pain, glaring at Jennalin. "Keep doing things like that and one of these times I'll return the favor!" He threatened her irritably. He sighed, still glaring at her. "And no, I don't think you're a fairy. I think you're a Changling. Close, but two different things. Couple o' key differences between them." He told her, crossing his arms and leaning back on the couch.

Lucian frowned at what he'd known to block - apparently Raevyn hadn't been expecting it. "Jen, calm. Just relax." He said flatly, his hand now holding her wrist.

Ashriel suddenly stood up, walking to the kitchen. For some reason, she thought now was the best time to do the dishes from breakfast - maybe she was just avoiding the discussion.

"Differences...such as what?" Jennalin's voice returned to her normal, nearly monotone, emotionless voice. Her eyes were glued on Raevyn, and she noted to herself to apologize later for her temper.

Raevyn glanced at Ashriel as she left. "You alright?" He asked her silently. "You can answer me in your mind if you let me in just a little bit more." He offered, suspecting she wouldn't want to speak aloud. Still listening for her answer, he turned back to Jennalin. "Such as most Changlings never discover their powers. There's nothing to trigger or unlock them. Course, that's a moot point in your case. With so many people mucking around in your mind it was inevitable that any powers be unlocked." He explained with a shrug. "Changlings also have a slightly different scent. Again, not really important to you, but important to me. You're scent picks up the other scents around it to hide itself. Even being that close to you, I could only barely find the scent that betrays your heritage - And I knew what to look for."

Ashriel calmed herself slightly, realizing how to let him in just a little more. "No." She answered him, abruptly shutting him back out, leaving just enough room for him to possibly talk to her. Though, it was so little that he would probably need more focus to do so.

Jennalin nodded, thinking about this. She fell silent, and Lucian whispered to Raevyn softly. "So what did you mean by her not being the only one?" He asked, realizing that this conversation was mostly over.
