RayRai_Lover lol wow, this topic... Yeah... Um, I'm fifteen (Almost sixteen) and I have an imaginary friend No, I'm not mentally challenged, dyslexic, nor do I have few friends But I can probably tell you all a lot about imaginary friends and why they're created
I never had one as a child, or not one I can remember I didn't get an imaginary friend until I was eleven or twelve His name is Raikei by the way
I don't know why I made him, but I'm glad I did In my opinion, an imaginary friend is just a prefect friend You can tell them everything and they always understand Though since I'm older than children, Raikei wasn't made like that No, he bitches about anything.. But he does understand me He's my best friend because he always knows how to cheer me up
And yeah, I do have real friends I have great friends who I would give my life to save But none of them get me quite as well as Raikei does
With Raikei, I'm able to pour my heart out Though I know my friends will always be there for me Thanks to a big move, I don't get to talk to them much anymore So Raikei's the only person I can rant to I also write on livejournal But all that is just a repeat of what's been said to Raikei And much shorter due to my laziness when it comes to typing
So yes, I believe in imaginary friends If you don't it's because you probably have little imagination Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there It's kinda like ghosts But as long as they're real to the person who created it Then its real
And often you'll notice little kids being fond of one specific toy or doll for long period of time They probably talk to it and take it everywhere Chances are the toy is the kid's imaginary friend And I like what Squirty_Chan said, about how they're ideal and tend to be happy with what they get and never get mad ((Though Raikei does sometimes, but he doesn't back-stab and his mean things are playful)) That was very well said Squirty_Chan
And in case your wondering, I do have an over-active imagination That's why I write stories; to release some of the imagination Though there's still enough for Raikei I have done something simular. Only i needed someone to talk to when I was stuck in a dish pit doing my job. I made up K'nil to be a voice to talk to. He is very much mean, belligerent, and well advised.
He is my reality check. I can't be in denial because he analyzes me the way someone that wasn't in my head does but he has my own insight to fuel what he is telling me. To my own surprise since I added this very insulting guy to my thought process I have been generally calmer and able to walk myself through things i couldn't possibly talk to another human being about.
Oh yeah, I am 22 now and made him up when I was 19. I didn't really name him until about a year after I had him.
